Team India pulled off a record chase of 230 runs against New Zealand in the series-opening first T20I last week in Christchurch courtesy of a sublime 33-ball 67 from Sanju Samson.

Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy came to the fore a couple of days later at the same venue to take India 2-0 up in the series.

In the recently-concluded third T20I, a thunderous 38-ball 113 from Abhishek Sharma helped India make lightwork of New Zealand’s monumental 198-run total in Wellington.

(Eden Park T20I pitch stats)

The Eden Park in Auckland hosted the first-ever T20I match in history way back in 2005. Since then, the venue has hosted 33 T20I matches.

Much like other New Zealand surfaces, the Eden Park is also generally considered to be a high-scoring venue, as its average first innings total amounts to be a staggering 161. However, that same average rises up to 177 while factoring in the last five completed first innings.

Fast bowlers can back themselves with the new ball. In the middle and slog overs, it is imperative for pacers to opt for variations. Spinners might have a difficult time here as evidenced by recent results.

The captain winning the toss will likely opt to bat first, considering teams batting first have enjoyed more success in comparison to the chasing sides.
