The DPL 2026 just produced its first Super Over of the season. The New Delhi Tigers and the Outer Delhi Warriors, taking on each other in match number eight of the tournament, both aggregated over 150 runs each in a 15-overs game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Requiring nine runs off the final six balls, hitherto struggling paceman Laxman delivered a tight last over to keep the Outer Delhi Warriors down to 155-9.

Batting first in Delhi, the New Delhi Tigers charted 156-5 in their 15 overs. Opening batter Lakshay Thareja composed an unbeaten 62 off 41 balls with five boundaries and three huge sixes.

Captain Himmat Singh blasted 61 off just 25 deliveries with four boundaries and five maximums to turbo-charge his team at the death.

For the Outer Delhi Warriors, captain Siddhant Sharma delivered tight figures of 2-25 from his three overs. Forgotten India fast bowler Navdeep Saini, Pratham Saluja and Shivam Sharma all picked up a wicket each in their respective spells.

Chasing a revised target of 156 runs in 15 overs, the Outer Delhi Warriors were restricted to 155-9 in 15 overs. Explosive opener Yajas Sharma smeared 52 runs off just 25 balls, and Monu Shukla rained down 45 off just 17 balls with four fours and as many sixes. Shivam Sharma also launched three boundaries and a six in his electrifying 21* off nine balls.

Manish Sehrawat waged the lone fight for the New Delhi Tigers with exceptional figures of 4-18 from his three overs. Laxman, who conceded 46 runs in his first two overs, delivered a tight last over to keep the Outer Delhi Warriors to just 155-9 in 20 overs.

Outer Delhi Warriors win one-sided Super Over

The Outer Delhi Warriors eventually emerged victorious in a rather one-sided Super Over contest on Tuesday, August 4.

Batting first in the tie-breaker, the Warriors raced to 20-1 in six balls, with Monu Shukla scoring all 20 runs from just five deliveries with three huge sixes. Interestingly, the team lost wicketkeeper-batter Yajas Sharma for a first-ball duck in the Super Over.

In response, New Delhi Tigers captain Himmat Singh started off with a first-class six in a chase of 21. However, Warriors’ Shivam Sharma dismissed both, Himmat as well as number three Hrithik Shokeen twice in successive deliveries to halt the Tigers for just six runs.

Outer Delhi registers first win, Central Delhi Kings still on top

The Super Over outcome handed Outer Delhi Warriors their first win of the DPL 2026 season. As of now, only North Delhi Strikers and East Delhi Riders remain the only winless teams of the tournament.

The Central Delhi Kings, meanwhile, are still placed at the top of the DPL 2026 points table with three wins in three matches.
