On Sunday, May 17, Delhi Capitals kept themselves alive in IPL 2026 after a five-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals. Notably, the Axar Patel-led side would have crashed out of the tournament if they suffered a defeat today at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. 

Now, after the win, Delhi Capitals sit 7th at the table with 12 points in 13 matches. The Capitals now have a solitary match alive and the fans are curious whether Delhi Capitals can still qualify for IPL 2026 playoffs.

How Can Delhi Capitals  still qualify for IPL 2026 playoffs?

As mentioned above, Delhi Capitals have now climbed to 7th on the table with 12 points. They can at max reach 14 points, which seems unlikely for qualification. However, there is hope but the Axar Patel-led side need to rely on other teams to get the job done for them.

There is only one scenario left for the Capitals to qualify. Firstly, they need to win their remaining fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders which is on May 24 at the Eden Gardens.

PBKS To Lose Remaining Fixture

Now, firstly, DC should hope that Punjab Kings lose their last group-stage match so that they finish their campaign with 13 points. Now, one possibility is that DC reach 4th with 14 points while, PBKS finish with 13 points and rest, CSK, RR end their campaign on 12 points, which can only happen when they lose their remaining two fixtures each.

CSK, RR Must Lose Their Remaining Two Fixtures

CSK will face SRH on May 18 and if SRH win that game, then CSK will still be on 12, while SRH go ahead with 16 points. Now, CSK will play their last match against GT, and if the Shubman Gill-led side win that match, then the Men in Yellow will end IPL 2026 with 12 points. 

Now, for Rajasthan Royals, they have their remaining fixtures against LSG and MI, two teams who have crashed out of the tournament. Hence, DC will pray to these lower-placed teams to beat RR in their remaining fixtures.

In this case, DC can easily qualify without the pressure of net run-rate. However, if CSK and RR win one of their remaining two fixtures, then DC need to enhance their net run-rate better than CSK and RR and hope that these three teams finish IPL 2026 group stage with 14 points.

As mentioned above, Delhi Capitals have a solitary match remaining which is against Kolkata Knight Riders and with a win, the Axar Patel-led side can also spoil KKR's party, who are still alive in the tournament.
