David Warner trolled Imam-ul-Haq for faking his injury [Source: AFP]
Imam-ul-Haq’s England tour has taken an unexpected turn after a calf injury ruled him out of a major portion of Pakistan’s second Test at Lord’s.
The Pakistan opener complained of discomfort while fielding on the opening day and subsequently did not bat in either innings as Pakistan slipped to a 194-run defeat. Although scans reportedly confirmed a low-grade calf injury, questions over the severity of the problem have exploded on social media.
A practice video showing Imam batting with his calf taped has only intensified the debate, with clips suggesting he moved comfortably between deliveries, now joining the trolling spree on the video, even Australian great David Warner has roasted the Pakistan batter.
David Warner Trolls Imam-ul-Haq Over Injury Controversy
The Imam-ul-Haq injury controversy gained fresh momentum after a video of the batter training surfaced on social media. The Pakistan batter can be seen practising with taping around his left calf and taking his batting stance without any obvious difficulty.
What caught the attention of viewers, however, was his movement immediately after making contact with the ball. In the viral clip, Imam appears to move normally while setting himself up and then limp after playing certain shots.

As one social media user re-posted the video with the comment, “Genuinely one of the funniest things I've ever watched,” David Warner then added fuel to the discussion with a short, sarcastic comment.
“Did he come out and bat after all this?” Warner wrote in reply, adding to the sarcastic nature of the comments under the video, poking fun at the guts of the cricketer to come out after the injury to bat again.
The comment quickly attracted attention, with Warner effectively joining the growing online scrutiny surrounding Imam.
That said, the footage alone does not establish that Imam-ul-Haq faked his injury. The PCB’s scans reportedly showed a low-grade calf injury, meaning the debate currently revolves around its severity and whether the opener was fit enough to bat.

Strict Action To Be Taken On Imam-ul-Haq by PCB
The Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly ordered an investigation into Imam’s injury after the allegations gathered momentum.
The board is expected to examine the medical evidence surrounding the calf problem, including scan results, physio assessments and the circumstances in which Imam reported discomfort during the Lord’s Test. His condition and treatment during the match could also be reviewed alongside the team's medical and support staff reports.
The investigation has greater significance because Imam was previously at the centre of an injury-related controversy during Pakistan’s 2025 tour of New Zealand.
With Imam now set to return to Pakistan and miss the third Test in Birmingham, the PCB has an opportunity to establish whether the Lord’s incident was a genuine injury that prevented him from batting or something that was exaggerated.
What Possible Punishments Can Imam-ul-Haq Get For Faking An Injury?
If the investigation formally concludes that Imam deliberately faked or exaggerated his injury, the consequences could extend well beyond missing the Birmingham Test.
The PCB could first impose an official warning or reprimand if it determines that he breached team protocols or the board's code of conduct.
A more serious finding could result in financial penalties, while his central contract or retainer could also be reviewed, downgraded or potentially terminated depending on the severity of the offence.
The biggest immediate consequence would likely be his exclusion from the Pakistan team. A player found to have deliberately avoided a Test because of an alleged injury could face a selection setback across formats, particularly because such an incident would raise questions about trust within the dressing room.
