Rishabh Pant Joins MS Dhoni in Unwanted List [Source: AFP]
LSG captain Rishabh Pant scripted an unwanted record for himself in a recent IPL 2026 game against the Rajasthan Royals. He was dismissed on a duck and joined MS Dhoni in an unsuccessful list.
In the first innings, Rajasthan Royals posted 159/6 on the board after Ravindra Jadeja’s 43* off 29 balls knock. However, LSG’s chase began on a horrendous note.
Rishabh Pant gets dismissed on a duck
It was a chaotic start to the chase as LSG lost 3 wickets at just 11 runs on the board. Ayush Badoni got run out on a golden duck, and captain Rishabh Pant also messed up big time.
The delivery, clocked at 142.7 kph and pitched on a teasing length outside off, induced a mistimed shot as Pant went down on one knee.
Dhruv Jurel made no mistake behind the stumps, completing a straightforward catch. Burger, pumped with the breakthrough, celebrated while the LSG captain walked back on a 3-ball duck.
Most Ducks as a Wicket-Keeper in IPL:
- 16 – Dinesh Karthik
- 10 – Parthiv Patel
- 8 – Naman Ojha
- 7 – Adam Gilchrist, Rishabh Pant*
- 6 – MS Dhoni, Ishan Kishan
That dismissal led to an unwanted statistic in his record. Rishabh Pant now shares the second spot for most ducks as a wicketkeeper in IPL history (7), alongside Adam Gilchrist.
Only Dinesh Karthik (16) and Parthiv Patel (10) sit above in that list. MS Dhoni is also in this list at 6 ducks, thus sharing the record with SRH captain Ishan Kishan.
Pant’s form is going downhill big time in the IPL 2026 season, and this poor streak will soon become a big headache for LSG.

LSG’s top order collapses under pressure
That being said, the target of 160 runs set by the Rajasthan Royals was not a big ask. However, LSG made it look like an uphill battle with a poor collapse. Ayush Badoni, Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram were dismissed on a duck each.
For only the third time in IPL history, the no. 2, 3, and 4 batters were all dismissed for ducks in the same innings.
And remarkably, two of those instances have already come in the 2026 season, which shows how unpredictable this year has been.
In RR’s last game against SRH, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan-dre Pretorius were dismissed on a duck each.
LSG is staring at another big defeat
Meanwhile, earlier in the game, Rajasthan Royals posted a competitive 159/6, powered by a composed 43* from Ravindra Jadeja and useful contributions across the middle order.
While RR didn’t start well, Mayank Yadav’s expensive spell helped them reach a respectable total.

In the second innings, Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger struck early to choke LSG completely. At the end of the first 10 overs, LSG had 55 runs on the board at the loss of 4 wickets.
Himmat Singh and Mitchell Marsh are out in the middle keeping the fight alive, but the asking rate is already above 10.
