In a significant development, a BCCI official has issued a massive verdict on MS Dhoni's legal dispute, which accused him of violating the conflict of interest provisions.

The former India captain and CSK legend MS Dhoni landed in legal trouble after a case was registered against him for his active involvement in cricket academies.

MS Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the most influential sports personalities in the country. Besides leading India to the World Cup title in 2011, the talismanic wicket-keeper is one of the rare captains to clinch the ICC Champions Trophy as well as the T20 World Cup.

MS Dhoni faced legal trouble in 2024

The former Indian skipper faced legal trouble amid his preparations for the IPL 2026. MS Dhoni was accused of breaching the conflict of interest provisions, as he owned a cricket academy while being an active international player.

The case was filed against Dhoni in February 2024, alleging that the legendary cricketer had violated the conflict-of-interest guidelines.

In his argument, the complainer cited that the veteran keeper-batter breached the clauses by owning several cricket academies through a company called Aarka Sports while still being a part of the Indian cricket team back in 2017.

BCCI Ethics officer dismisses the case against MS Dhoni

However, the former CSK captain took a sigh of relief, as the BCCI Ethics Officer, Justice Arun Mishra, dismissed the case days before the IPL 2026.

It's worth mentioning that the BCCI implemented the conflict-of-interest rules in 2018, while MS Dhoni had opened the cricket academies through Aarka Sports a year before, in 2017.

So, in his verdict, Justice Arun Mishra acknowledged that the BCCI didn't have the conflict-of-interest rules when Dhoni got himself associated with the academies.

Additionally, he noted that there was no evidence that MS Dhoni used his influence or received preferential treatment in the aforementioned period. Thus, the BCCI Ethics officer also concluded that the case seemed to be driven by personal grievances and an agenda rather than by factual evidence.
