Bangladesh is set to be a part of the historic Test series against Australia next month, and this would be the first time since 2003 that the Asian side will travel Down Under for a Test series against the Australians. However, even before a single ball has been delivered, Bangladesh have sustained a huge blow.

Several of their key players are injured, and that has derailed their plans for the upcoming two-match series. One of the big names who will miss the historic Australia Test is pace spearhead Nahid Rana.

The tearaway pacer sustained a side strain injury and was ruled out of the tour as Bangladesh sweat on his fitness issues.

BCB provides update on Nahid Rana's injury

Just a day after announcing the team for the first Test vs Australia, the BCB released an official update on Nahid Rana’s injury. BCB confirmed that the pacer will travel to Australia, but not to play any cricket. He will travel Down Under for medical assessment and will be accompanied by team physio Bayjedul Islam.

Interestingly, he won’t travel to Australia for his recent side strain injury, but rather for a chronic shinbone issue.

"Nahid Rana from his early days is suffering with shinbone pain in his two legs and he is playing by managing it. We earlier planned that if we travel to Australia or England we would assess his shinbone issues by sitting with a lower-limb specialist," a BCB official confirmed to Cricbuzz.

"As part of that plan he is travelling to Australia to sit with a shinbone specialist but he is not travelling there for side-strain issues because his shinbone pain is a chronic injury," he said.

Taskin Ahmed to accompany Nahid Rana as pacer faces injury issues

Not only Nahid, but his fellow teammate, Taskin Ahmed, will also fly to Australia for medical assessment. The fast bowler was named in Bangladesh’s Test squad for the Australia tour, but he will go to Australia early not for his shoulder injury, but to seek advice on recurring ankle issues.

"Taskin is visiting for his ankle issue that he sustained earlier at different points of his career and we want to have a third opinion regarding its status," source told Cricbuzz.

Why Bangladesh will miss Nahid Rana during the Australia tour

Traditionally, the Australian pitches have offered pace and bounce, and that makes batters’ jobs difficult. Bowlers can trouble the best in the business by their sheer pace, and that’s what makes Nahid Rana special.

He can clock his speed at well over 140 km/h, and the fast bowler has a deceptive bouncer that can surprise the Australian batters.

The other Bangladesh pacers have the skill set, but none of them possesses the ability to bamboozle the batters with pace and bounce. Moreover, the pacer has been in solid white-ball form this year, and he would have carried the same confidence on the red-ball Australia tour.

Bangladesh's other injury issues before Australia Test series

Not only Nahid and a bit of Taskin, but Bangladesh also have plenty of other injury issues before the historic Australia Test series.

Pacer Shoriful Islam will miss the first Test as he continues to recover from a side strain injury. Moreover, wicket-keeper batter, Litton Das will also miss the first Test due to a calf injury.

Litton sustained the injury during the Zimbabwe series, and his participation against Australia was always in jeopardy as he failed to recover in time for the two-game series.
