Bangladesh Cricket Board Opens Disciplinary Proceedings Against Its Own Player

All is not well between the players and the management within Bangladesh cricket. The Tigers, who are fresh off a T20I series win over Zimbabwe, are forced to open a disciplinary action against one of their players.

Bangladesh’s T20 star Mahedi Hasan has landed in hot water for breaching the BCB code of conduct and is all set to be summoned.

Mahedi Hasan Involved In Verbal Altercation With Management

A report from Daily Sun reported that Bangladesh all-rounder Mahedi Hasan pointed fingers at management in the dressing room, which has not gone well with the board.

The incident occurred during Bangladesh’s T20I series against Australia, where the 31-year-old sat out in the 2nd and 3rd T20I despite doing well in the opening match.

“We are not going to tolerate any disciplinary issues. We will call him for a hearing because as a contracted cricketer you have to follow some rules and regulations, and it seems he breached it through publicly pointing fingers at the team management,” said the official.

Mahedi Hasan Repeats Past Mistake

It was not the first time Mahedi Hasan has landed in hot water for an argument with the team management. On 29 November, 2025, Mahedi was summoned for speaking ill about the team and the management in public.

“Actually, maybe the head coach can answer this question. Our captain can answer this,” said Mahedi Hasan when asked why he has not been a regular in the Bangladesh XI.

“Those involved in our team selection can answer this. Look, my job is to play. Regarding the question you asked, it is difficult for me,” he added back then.

Previously, Mahedi received a clean chit from the BCB, but things look different this time around.

“We feel if he was notified and warned earlier, he wouldn’t have done it again,” remarked a BCB official.

Does Mahedi Hasan Deserve To Be Out Of The Team?

Mahedi Hasan is often considered for T20Is, and if we decode his career, then it has been underwhelming. The 31-year-old has 486 runs in 52 innings. Even with the ball, Hasan has just 75 wickets in 74 innings.

Even in the recently concluded T20I series against Australia, he scored 29 runs with the bat and picked up just a solitary wicket.

"Regret is often there. As a cricketer, I only play the T20 format, but even then I am not a regular there. More often than not, I fall under the requirements of matchup or combination; it is disappointing for me," Mahedi was quoted as saying to T Sports after the series.

Litton Das also facing BCB action

Not just Mahedi Hasan but Litton Das is also facing a sanction from the BCB. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday (July 19) sought an explanation from Litton Das, their T20I captain, over major rule violations.

The right-handed batter, who is out of action because of injury, travelled to China without prior notice to the BCB.
