Kolkata Police Told To Arrest Abishek Porel
Despite denying the accusations, Kolkata High Court has strictly told the police to urgently arrest Delhi Capitals’ opener Abishek Porel, who is facing several non-bailable offences under the BNS. The judiciary has also ordered the police to seize electronic devices to protect the victim’s identity, as reported by Subahayan Chakroborty.
“The Calcutta High Court has directed police to urgently apprehend Bengal & Delhi Capitals cricketer Abishek Porel (the accused) and seize his electronic devices. This relates to Mogra PS FIR No. 346/2026, which includes severe non-bailable offences under the BNS, including rape and criminal intimidation," tweeted Subhayan.
"The court specifically instructed authorities to seize his electronic devices to protect the complainant's privacy and prevent the sharing of obnoxious data. Next hearing is August 11,” it added.
What Was The Incident?
An anonymous lady registered a complaint was reportedly filed against him at Magra Police Station in West Bengal's Hooghly district. The complaint alleges that the cricketer lived with a woman after promising marriage and later failed to fulfil that commitment.
It eventually led to the women registering a complaint against Porel and took the matter to court. At that time, Porel faced no threat because there was lack of evidence and the allegations was required to be investigated by law enforcement authorities.
However, Abishek Porel continues to deny the claims and it seems that he will appeal further to the higher court. At the time of writing this article, there is no statement from Porel's family on the court's order. Neither has the player made any offical remark.
