After skipping the T20 World Cup 2026, Bangladesh is set to be back in international cricket as the ODI series against Pakistan looms soon. Ahead of the clash, their batting coach Mohammad Ashraful has set a massive target for the team.

Backing them on home conditions, the Bangladesh coach hoped for a complete whitewash against Pakistan. Even before the series goes live on the big stage, the rivalry is already keeping the fans on their toes.

Ashraful backs Bangladesh for a clean sweep against Pakistan

It has been a long time since Bangladesh played international cricket after walking out of the T20 World Cup 2026 due to geopolitical tensions. After the tournament has been wrapped up, the Tigers are all set to be backed in the international cricket as they are all set to face Pakistan in a three-match ODI series.

As the 2027 ODI World Cup is inching closer, the remaining ODI clashes have become extremely crucial for the upcoming tournament. Keeping the preparation in mind, Bangladesh is seeking full dominance in the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan on home soil.

Reflecting on the upcoming fixtures, Mohammad Ashraful said Bangladesh is eager to secure direct qualification for the next World Cup. Backing the team to thrive on home conditions, he launched a fresh attack on the visitors, saying, Bangladesh is eyeing a whitewash.

“Why should we aim for 2-1? Of course, we want 3-0. If we win by that margin, it benefits us. When we travel abroad, for example, to places like South Africa, the conditions will not be easy. That’s why we want to try and win every match when we play at home,” he said.

Ashraful backs Bangladesh’s explosive firepower

Over the years, Bangladesh’s struggle in recent years has grabbed attention. Tigers faltered under pressure as momentum slipped away from their hands. After some legends stepped away from international cricket, the team is still looking forward to filling their void.

However, Bangladesh has already revealed the mighty squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan. Several players have put past struggles behind them and returned in promising form ahead of the series. With that renewed confidence and experience, Ashraful backed the Tigers, saying ready to face challenges on the big stage.

“If you think about Soumya Sarkar, he has been playing international cricket for almost 12 years. Litton has also been playing international cricket for about 12 years. If you think about Najmul Hossain Shanto, he has been playing international cricket for almost nine years,” he said.

“Towhid Hridoy is also in excellent form. So whoever is there, I believe our batsmen will perform well in the Pakistan series, and we will improve match by match,” he added.

Tigers roar into 2027 World Cup race with Pakistan battle

As the tournament inches closer, the remaining ODI clashes have become extremely crucial for all the sides.
