On Tuesday, April 28, Islamabad United and Karachi Kings locked horns in the first play-off match for PSL 2026. It also marked the first match of the season where fans were allowed in attendance. Notably, people turned up in thousands to watch Babar Azam in action.

Babar Azam, who is in stellar form with the bat, made everyon'e day and slammed another T20 century. The former Pakistan captain brought up his hundred in 57-balls. He slammed 12 fours and four sixes in his innings.

Babar Azam Brings Up His 2nd Century Of PSL 2026

As mentioned above, Babar Azam is having a season to remember. The right-handed batter slammed his 2nd century of PSL 2026. Overall, Babar brought up his 13th T20 hundred, closing gap on Chris Gayle.

Notably, Babar Azam is only behind Chris Gayle, who has 22 T20 centuries. Talking about Babar Azam's PSL record, then he has four centuries in PSL history. Now, interestingly, Babar Azam brought up his century in style and slammed a six when he was batting on 97.


Babar Azam Equals Fakhar Zaman's PSL Feat

Babar Azam returned to the pavillion after scoring 103 (59). With that, he took his run-tally to 588 in PSL 2026. He equalled Fakhar Zaman's record for most runs in a single edition of Pakistan's premier T20 league.

Most Runs in a PSL Season

  • Fakhar Zaman (Lahore Qalandars) – 588 runs in 2022
  • Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi) – 588 runs* in 2026

  • Babar Azam (Karachi Kings) – 554 runs in 2021
  • Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans) – 550 runs in 2023

Interestingly, irrespective of the result, Babar Azam still has a game to play this season and the right-handed batter can break this record easily.

Babar Azam Goes Past Mohammad Rizwan's Historic Feat

With the century, Babar Azam brought up 500 runs in this season. It was the fourth time in his PSL career that the right-handed batter has achieved this feat. Notably, he went past Mohammad Rizwan, for most 500+ runs seasons in PSL.

He had previously achieved the feat in 2024, 2023 and 2021. Rizwan is second on the list as the keeper-batter has achieved the same thrice. Shedding light on Babar's PSL 2026 season, the 31-year-old has 588 runs in 10 innings, averaging 84.00.

Most importantly, Babar has batted with a strike-rate of 146.27. The change in approach has helped Peshawar Zalmi big way. Talking about the ongoing match, the Zalmi are in great position as Babar's century helped them put 221 runs on the board after 20 overs.

Before PSL 2026, Babar's place in T20 set-up was under the scanners, but now there is no question that he will continue to be part of Pakistan's setup.
