Punjab Kings' young, explosive opener Priyansh Arya recently opened up about what he envies the most about his rival opener from the Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

The revelation came just hours before PBKS took on RR in the 40th fixture of IPL 2026 season at the Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh.

Priyansh Arya is in awe of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s bat swing

Ahead of the PBKS vs RR game in IPL 2026, Priyansh Arya had a chat with commentators where he revealed that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s bat swing is something he adores and if given a chance, he would love to steal that skill from him.

"[on what quality he would borrow from Sooryavanshi] His bat swing. His bat speed is very good," Priyansh said.

Vaibhav, 15, has emerged to be one of the most extraordinary teenagers India has seen in recent history. Playing for RR, he has scored 609 runs across 2 seasons with a 40.60 average.

He takes on world-class international bowlers without an ounce of fear in his eyes. That aggressive intent has caught the fans and experts attention. Now, Priyansh’s statement is a sign that, apart from fans, even his peers and rivals are in absolute awe of him.

PBKS drop Shashank Singh

Coming back to the PBKS vs RR game in the IPL 2026 season, Rajasthan Royals opted to bowl first at Mullanpur after winning the toss. Punjab Kings, meanwhile, made two changes to the squad.

Shashank Singh has been mysteriously dropped as Suryansh Shedge took his place. According to social media theories, Shashank could have been snubbed due to a hamstring injury.
