In a significant development, Cricket Australia modified the Australia ODI squad vs Bangladesh, announcing that Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh will not feature in the upcoming series.
The Australian cricket team recently participated in a three-match ODI series against Pakistan. Despite emerging victorious in the second ODI in Lahore, Australia ended up losing the series by 2-1, as Pakistan swatted them aside by four wickets in the decider.
As they gear up for the highly anticipated Bangladesh tour, the Australians have suffered a massive setback, with three key players- Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Tanveer Sangha getting sidelined from the ODI series.
Travis Head granted extended break; Mitch Marsh out with injury
Destructive opening batter Travis Head didn't participate in the ODI series against Pakistan due to personal reasons. After representing Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, Head was granted extended leave to spend quality time with his family.
Although he was initially included in the Australia ODI squad vs Bangladesh, Cricket Australia confirmed on Monday that the swashbuckling southpaw would remain unavailable for the three-match ODI series.
"Travis was initially selected in the ODI and T20I legs of this Bangladesh tour but has subsequently been granted personal leave for both. We look forward to seeing him again for the top end Test Series against Bangladesh," Australia's national selector Tony Dodemaide said.
Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh, who was initially reported to miss the three-match series due to an ankle injury, has been replaced by Matthew Short in the Australia ODI squad vs Bangladesh.
However, Tony Dodemaide confirmed that the skipper would link up with his teammates later for the T20I series, which commences on June 17.
"We were hopeful Mitch Marsh would be available for the Bangladesh ODI series however he is still returning to full fitness from an ankle injury. Mitch will join the group in Dhaka and begin preparations for the T20I Series," Tony Dodemaide added.

Cricket Australia revealed that it would announce a replacement for Travis Head in due course. Having said that, young batter Oliver Peake has been asked to join the rest of the squad members ahead of the Bangladesh ODIs. So, the left-handed batter could well be Travis Head's replacement for the high-octane series.
Todd Murphy replaces Tanveer Sangha
Right-arm leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha has been ruled out of Australia's upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh due to a hamstring injury that he sustained during the Pakistan tour.
In his absence, right-arm off-spinner Todd Murphy has been added to the Australia ODI squad vs Bangladesh and will spearhead the spin bowling department with veteran bowler Adam Zampa.
While Todd Murphy has played seven Tests, he has yet to make his debut in the ODI format. The 25-year-old bowler has played 36 List-A matches, though, scalping 41 wickets at a superb economy of 4.92.
Considering the pitches in Bangladesh assist spin bowling, Murphy could be a valuable asset for the Australian side.
Josh Inglis named captain in Australia ODI squad vs Bangladesh
With the ankle injury sidelining Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis will continue to lead the Australian ODI team against Bangladesh.
He had a topsy-turvy time as a skipper in Pakistan, with his side losing to the home team by 2-1. So, Josh Inglis would be keen to bounce back as a captain and power Australia to glory in the Bangladesh ODIs.
