After Ben Duckett pulled late out of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), yet another England batter has caused trouble, but this time to the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026), on the eve of the tournament's curtain-raiser.

Lately, various foreign players are ditching the PSL 2026, majorly after getting a replacement deal in the IPL 2026 or citing personal reasons due to the distress in subcontinent and the Middle East.

Late on Tuesday evening, Ben Duckett decided to withdraw from his maiden IPL stint, leaving the Delhi Capitals camp in a spot of bother. However, the 31-year-old English wicketkeeper has withdrawn to concentrate on his physical and mental health, keeping England Cricket in mind.

James Vince opts out of PSL 2026

Just one day after Ben Duckett's snub to the DC, England's James Vince has reportedly backed out of the PSL 2026. The World Cup-winning batter won't be available for the entire season, according to a team sheet shared by Multan Sultans' owner, Gohar Shah.

Earlier in the year, James Vince relocated to Dubai due to safety concerns after a series of attacks on his family home back in the United Kingdom.

Is war the reason behind James Vince's withdrawal?

However, now, after the war between Iran and Israel-US, which shut down various airspaces in the Middle East, including in Dubai, Vince was struck in the red-alert city.

Despite the US government calling a five-day ceasefire on Tuesday, one can easily connect the dots leading to Vince's decision. Meanwhile, there is no update on whether the English batter will stay in Dubai or fly back to the UK at the earliest.

James Vince has been a popular name in the PSL, where he has represented three different franchises - Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans. The PSL 2026 would have seen his debut for the Peshawar Zalmi, who acquired his services for PKR 3 crore in the auction.

In PSL, Vince has played 56 matches, slamming 1544 runs at a strike rate close to 140, with his best season coming last year for the Kings. The right-handed batter scored 378 runs at 148.23, with a career best of 101 in PSL 2025.

Why did Ben Duckett opt out of IPL 2026?

Taking it to his Instagram, Ben Duckett withdrew from the upcoming IPL 2026, after he chose to pick his future for England over the lucrative deal from the Delhi Capitals.

"I have made the extremely difficult decision to withdraw from the IPL. I have given this a lot of thought, and it has not been an easy choice. Representing England is something I have dreamed of since I was a child, and I want to give everything I can to English cricket. To do that, I need to ensure I am in the best possible place physically and mentally ahead of the summer," Ben Duckett wrote on his Instagram account.

In the mini-auction for the IPL 2026, DC bagged Duckett's services for INR 2 crore. It is worth mentioning that the keeper-opener has played 217 T20s, but has never tasted IPL cricket. He was recently part of the English squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 but had to warm the bench throughout the tournament.
