The Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd Test is turning out to be a crucial one, with the hosts at a disadvantage. With Day 5 to commence on the morning of November 9 in Sylhet, West Indies will continue to bat with a lead of 315 runs and 7 wickets in hand.
As the match is likely to seep into a draw and eventually a series win for the visitors, Towhid Hridoy, the record-breaking batter for Bengal Tigers, has reignited confidence in the team’s batting unit if they get an opportunity to chase down a total of 350 or above.

Hridoy, who scored an unbeaten 242 in the first innings, stressed that the Sylhet wicket is apt for batting and will continue to be so on Day 5 as well. Hence, starting explosively will be the motto for Bangladesh as per the young batter.
“Look, it will depend on how we start. The wicket is still good. If we can start well first, then I think it's possible to chase. But it's still not possible to say what will happen tomorrow. Tomorrow we'll have to see how many runs they target, then we'll plan accordingly,” said Hridoy in a press conference.
Speaking of runs made, West Indies bagged 356 runs in their first innings with Bangladesh covering the lead with their 386. Then, Windies batters Kavem Hodge and Kevin Wickham paired to stitch a solid lead again over the hosts to further rain them down with despair just ahead of the final day of the Test.
Hridoy confident with 350 chase on Day 5
As West Indies batted till Stumps on Day 4, it is very much likely that they would continue till Session 1 of Day 5 before declaring. That marks an inclination towards the possibility that the match will end towards a draw, as the hosts will not have enough time to cover the target before the day ends.
In another possibility, Bangladesh might get wrapped up by Windies bowlers; however, given the batting-friendly surface at Sylhet, this seems highly unlikely. Hence, Hridoy further added to be confident of a target chase if it stays somewhere near 350 runs.
“So far, it's batting-friendly. The fifth day tomorrow is definitely a very important day. What I feel, as I said before, the start is very important. If we can start well, 350, I think, is chaseable. But as I said repeatedly, the start is very important,” Towhid Hridoy added.
Bangladesh lost the first Test against West Indies even after having a lead in the first half of the game. They were wrapped up in the second innings for just 142 runs, setting a target of 170 for the visitors, which were chased down with 8 wickets remaining.
