The run chase never quite gathered the momentum Namibia needed. They were tested from the outset by South Africa's seamers, with Duan Jansen and Corbin Bosch finding plenty of bounce and movement before Kwena Maphaka made the first breakthrough. Namibia briefly steadied themselves, with Malan Kruger making 34 and later bringing up the milestone of 1,000 international runs, but wickets continued to interrupt their progress. Gerhard Erasmus' 21 off 22 offered a brief spark after the first rain break, while JJ Smit's 31 off 20 and Ruben Trumpelmann's 14 off 8 provided some late resistance. But with the target repeatedly reshaped by the weather and the asking rate climbing beyond reach.
