That’s all from me, Omkar Iyer, alongside Darpan Tikiya and Rajarshi Das, with Sachin Yadav keeping us covered on scoring and analysis. Thank you for joining us for this one, and we hope you enjoyed the action. Until next time, take care and keep following the cricket!
The two sides will now meet again in the second ODI, with the action continuing at Windhoek on Friday, September 11. The first ball will be at 1 PM IST, 9.30 AM Local Time. The Proteas will look to wrap up the series, while Namibia will be aiming to bounce back and level things up.
Okay then, South Africa take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series, winning the rain-affected opener by 99 runs (D/L). Jordan Hermann’s magnificent 150 powered them to 348/6, before the bowlers kept Namibia under pressure through a stop-start chase. The hosts finished on 162/8 (31 overs) after their target was revised following two rain breaks.
Bjorn Fortuin (South Africa captain): "(On a comprehensive win like this) Nice to get a good start in the ODI series so far. Nice to see guys standing up again. Jordan played an unbelievable knock. Subrayen chipping in with wickets. Nice to get the win.

(On how much performances like this mean to the rest of the squad and South Africa in general) Yeah, you can never take performing well for your team for granted, whatever happens after that is not in our control as players. Nice to see guys performing, nice to see them performing big, like Jordan did today. It's a good culture to build within a young team."
Gerhard Erasmus (Captain of Namibia): “Yeah, it felt like we didn’t really put ourselves in a position to go out there and win the game.

(On how the game went) We can take a couple of positives from today, especially the late burst. We want to focus on the next two matches and continue to build as a group.

With qualification coming up as well, there’s plenty for us to learn from this game, and we’ll be prepared for what’s ahead."
Jordan Hermann (Player of the Match): "(Special feeling on a special day?) Yup, definitely. First and foremost I would like to thank God for this opportunity. Definitely won't be an opportunity without his help.

(Feeling while in the middle) It was nice. Felt like my day, glad to contribute in a winning cause.

(On having such a nice piece of history today) Definitely cool to think about, it's great to have a result as well, that's the coolest thing."
Jordan Hermann has been adjudged Player of the Match!
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony.
9.20 PM IST, 5.52 PM Local Time: SOUTH AFRICA RECORD AN EMPHATIC WIN AGAINST NAMIBIA BY 99 RUNS (D/L).

South Africa have taken the opening ODI of the series, beating Namibia by 99 runs in a rain-affected contest at Windhoek. Asked to bat first, the Proteas put up a commanding 348/6, setting Namibia a daunting target. What followed was a stop-start chase as two rain interruptions forced repeated revisions to the equation, eventually reducing Namibia’s target to 262 from 31 overs. South Africa's bowlers kept their composure through the disruptions and ensured Namibia never got close, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
The run chase never quite gathered the momentum Namibia needed. They were tested from the outset by South Africa's seamers, with Duan Jansen and Corbin Bosch finding plenty of bounce and movement before Kwena Maphaka made the first breakthrough. Namibia briefly steadied themselves, with Malan Kruger making 34 and later bringing up the milestone of 1,000 international runs, but wickets continued to interrupt their progress. Gerhard Erasmus' 21 off 22 offered a brief spark after the first rain break, while JJ Smit's 31 off 20 and Ruben Trumpelmann's 14 off 8 provided some late resistance. But with the target repeatedly reshaped by the weather and the asking rate climbing beyond reach.
