Miles Hammond came out and hit 4 sixes in the first over of the match, the hosts were very in an excellent position when rain interrupted play with one over still remaining in the powerplay. Gloucestershire were 61/1 from 5 overs. It was very frustrating for the fans from Bristol who have come out to support their team, all the players and millions watching across the globe. There was just a light drizzle which was enough to keep the players out!!

Post the rain-affected break, The momentum shifted and the home team ended up scoring 40 runs in the last 5 overs while losing 4 wickets. The revised D/L total was 101 and Somerset looked like chasing this one down with ease in the innings break but Gloustershiore came out with a bang and dismantled the opponents. At one stage it looked all over but the, the game was dead and buried but the man who has played both for South Africa and the Netherlands singly handly took the match away from the host! Roelof van der Merwe played an unbelievable knock, smashed it to all parts of the ground and took his team over the line.
