Time for the post-match Presentation!
9:24 PM IST, 7:54 PM Local Time: Emirates Eagles win by 16 runs! Every bowler fan club across the world will have a smile on their face if they saw this incredible defence with the ball from the Eagles. When Sherfane Rutherford was smashing everything into the fence, it felt like game over for the Eagles, however, experienced pros like Hardus Viljoen and Trent Boult delivered incredible overs to pull it back for their side.
Royal Desert Champions won the toss and elected to bowl first. Kyle Mayers got them off to a flyer with 39 off just 19 balls. Alex Hales was retired out for 22 off 17 after he was struggling to time the ball. Rovman Powell was the key injector in the innings as with his 41 off just 16, the Emirates Eagles reached 125/2 in 10 overs. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers with 1/22.
The Royal Desert Champions lost key players like Phil Salt (4 off 2), Muhammad Waseem (13 off 9) and Nicholas Pooran (14 off 7) cheaply. However, Sherfane Rutherford with his incredible 33 off 12 powered the side to 69 for 3 in 5 overs. They needed just 48 off 24 balls at one stage and were very much in the game. However, the 7th over from Hardus Viljoen and the 8th from Trent Boult together gave away just 7 runs and the bowlers took a wicket each. The equation came down to 41 off 12. Despite the efforts of Chris Jordan (27 off 17), the Champions fell short by 16 runs. Trent Boult (2/14), Hardus Viljoen (2/19) and Haider Razzaq (2/31) were the pick of the bowlers for the Eagles.
