Thank you so much for sticking to our coverage. It's time to switch to the other game where the Punjab Kings will lock horns against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Until then, it's Arijit Kundu signing off alongside Suhail Kapoor and Saurabh Saket.
Rohit Sharma | Losing Captain: "It was a good score on this pitch. We did not think it was a wicket where we could reach 170 but we batted well and reached 170. We did not bowl well and execute our plans with the ball. We have never discussed about winning the first game. Disappointed with the loss today but it is not the end of the tournament."
Well, what a turn-around in the game. Two unsung's have done it for the Delhi Capitals today. At one point the required rate was almost around 12 and then the lower order did things for themselves. Its the allrounder triplet of Shardul, Lalit, and Axar who have extracted the chase for the Nayi Delhi.
Earlier in the game, Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to field first. The Mumbai openers gave a flying start in the powerplay with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan taking apart the Capital's pacers. The duo managed to get 53 runs in the powerplay and lost none. Then it was Kuldeep Yadav who came in and draw the first blood for the Capitals. Soon after that, it was Ishan Kishan playing his natural game from one end and lost support from the other end. Tilak Varma made a short 22 off just 15 deliveries and the others were really not up to the mark. On the back of Kishan's 81 off 48, the Mumbai Indians propelled to a score of 177. Kuldeep Yadav bagged a three-for and Khaleel Ahmed scalped two wickets.
In reply, the Capitals lost a couple of wickets in the first few overs. Despite a short flying start to the innings, Tim Seifert failed to go a long way. At one stage, DC were down to 32-3 after 4.1 overs. Lalit Yadav and Prithwi Shaw jolted a short 40 runs partnership and then Dc lost wickets on trot. At the end a short it was Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel who took the Capitals home by completing the chase with 10 balls to spare.
With the ball in hand, Basil Thampi scalped a three-for, Murugwan Ashwin a two-for and a solitary wicket for Tymal Mills.
'Yeh hai Nayi Delhi' and that's what the youngsters have shown today.
