22.09 IST: London Spirit Women have registered four wickets triumph chasing the target of 83 runs and registered their second win of the season. Kudos to the duo of Naomi Dattani and Grace Scrivens who weathered the storm for them after a vulnerable situation (26/6).
Earlier after getting invited to bat first, Birmingham got bundled out on just 82 runs. Evelyn Jones (24) was the only batter who scored in the double-digit for them. It felt like it will be a cakewalk for London but Birmingham bowlers had some other plans. Sophie Molineux started proceedings with the ball for Birmingham and sets the tone for her side by dismissing Danielle Gibson in her first set. And in her next set, Beth Mooney too departed courtesy of an excellent direct hit from the skipper Devine. Sophie Luff (8), Amelia Kerr (0), Charlotte Dean (6)
and Alice Monaghan (4) also got dismissed at regular intervals and once they were six down for just 26 runs. 83 runs chase seemed a big deal for them, Birmingham bowlers' were all over them. However, the duo of Dattani (28* off 29 balls) and Scrivens(26* off 30 balls) calmed the storm for them after that. The pair sensed the need for an hour and started the recovery process. They played sensible and intelligent cricket to put up an unbeaten 57 runs partnership to clinch the contest for them.
