Virat Kohli (India) - 15
Former World T20 champion batter and India great, Virat Kohli, ended his T20 World Cup career as the most successful batter in the tournament’s history. He played 35 World T20 games for his side and scored 1,292 runs in 33 innings at an outstanding average of 58.72, with 15 half-centuries to his name.
Virat Kohli was the leading run-scorer of all time in World T20 history at the time he hung up his boots following India’s title triumph in the 2024 edition. Besides that, he ended his career as the batter with the most 50+ scores in the tournament’s history.
Rohit Sharma (India) - 12
India’s former World T20 champion skipper Rohit Sharma, together with Virat Kohli, stands as one of the two most successful batters in the tournament. He scored 1,220 runs in 44 innings of 47 games at an average of 34.85 and hit 12 half-centuries.
Rohit is the second-highest run-scorer of all time in the T20 World Cup history, alongside being in the spot on the list of the batters with the most 50+ scores. He also finished his World T20 career as the only Indian player to be part of India’s World Cup-winning team twice, in 2007 and 2024.
Chris Gayle (WI) - 9
The former Caribbean legend and two-time T20 World Cup-winning batter, Chris Gayle, ended his World T20 career as the most successful batter of all time for his side in the tournament’s history. The universe boss is still in the same spot for the Caribbean side, even after five years since his last appearance in the tournament.
Gayle scored 965 runs in 31 innings of 33 games, averaged 34.46 with a strike rate of 142.75, including two centuries along with seven half-centuries. He holds third place among batters with the highest number of 50+ scores in the tournament.
David Warner (Australia) - 8
The former Australian stalwart, David Warner, is the leading run-scorer of all time for his side in the T20 World Cup history. He was also a part of the Aussie side that lifted the title in the 2021 edition in the United Arab Emirates.
Warner ended his World T20 career in 2024 with 984 runs in 41 games at an average of 25.89 and a strike rate of 134.24, hitting eight half-centuries. He occupies fourth spot among batters with the most 50+ scores over the tournament’s 19-year span.
Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka) - 7
The former Sri Lankan skipper and World T20 champion batter, Mahela Jayawardene, featured in the prestigious competition for five editions over seven years. In his 31-game World T20 career, Jayawardene scored 1,016 runs in 31 innings at an average of 39.07, hitting a century and six half-centuries.
The former Islanders' leader scored a total of seven 50+ knocks in his World T20 career. Even after 12 years since his last appearance in the tournament, Jayawardene ranks fifth in the list of batters with the most 50+ scores in the T20 World Cup history.
