Pakistan Super League 2026 auction [Source: X.com]
The Pakistan Super League (PSL auction 2026) was successfully held at the Lahore Expo Centre on Wednesday, February 12. This was an important event as eight teams, including two new franchises, took part in the auction.
It is worth mentioning that nearly 260 players were listed, and teams carefully selected the players they needed to strengthen their squads.
However, what made this auction even more interesting was the presence of several players who had gone unsold in the IPL mini auction held last December.
Although these cricketers failed to attract buyers in the IPL, they managed to secure good contracts in the PSL. In fact, some of them were bought for impressive amounts. Let’s take a closer look at these players.
Unsold IPL Players Who Got Crores In PSL Auction 2026
Daryl Mitchell - PKR 8.05 crore
First of all, Daryl Mitchell registered himself for the IPL 2026 auction with a base price of ₹2 crore. Despite having prior IPL experience, he went unsold. Notably, Mitchell had already played two IPL seasons and scored 351 runs in 13 innings. Even with this record, no franchise showed interest in him during the auction.
However, the situation changed during the PSL 2026 auction. The Multan Sultans (now Rawalpindi) decided to invest in him and bought him for PKR 8.05 crore.
Therefore, although IPL teams ignored him, PSL franchises saw value in his all-round abilities and gave him another opportunity.
Adam Zampa - PKR 4.5 crore
Similarly, Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa also faced disappointment in the IPL 2026 mini auction. After having a below-average performance in IPL 2025, he went unsold. Even though Zampa has played for four different IPL teams in the past, this time no franchise picked him.
On the other hand, the PSL auction brought good news for him. Karachi Kings bought Adam Zampa for PKR 4.5 crore.
Notably, this will be the first time he will play in the PSL. Thus, while IPL teams overlooked him, PSL franchises believed he could make a difference with his spin bowling.
Rilee Rossouw - PKR 5.5 crore
Meanwhile, South African batter Rilee Rossouw also went unsold in both the IPL 2025 and IPL 2026 auctions. In previous IPL seasons, he had played for four teams and scored 473 runs in 22 innings. For the IPL 2026 auction, he had set his base price at ₹2 crore. Despite his experience, no team showed interest.
However, after going unsold in the IPL, Rossouw registered for the PSL auction. This time, Quetta Gladiators picked him for PKR 5.5 crore. Therefore, PSL gave him a fresh opportunity to showcase his batting skills once again.
Rishad Hossain - PKR 1.1 crore
Bangladesh’s young leg-spinner Rishad Hossain also went unsold in the IPL 2026 mini auction. Hossain had registered himself with a base price of ₹75 lakh. Unfortunately, no franchise bid for him.
Nevertheless, in the PSL auction 2026, Rawalpindi showed confidence in his talent and bought him for PKR 1.1 crore. As a result, he will now get a chance to prove himself on a big stage.
