The 14th edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2026) concluded on September 21, 2026, with Antigua & Barbuda Falcons lifting their maiden title after a dominant victory over Jamaica Kingsmen in the final at the Kensington Oval, Barbados.
Under the leadership of Moeen Ali, Antigua & Barbuda Falcons proved to be too strong over Rovman Powell’s Kingsmen, securing an 8-wicket win.
Sadaqat’s ton not enough; Falcons secure maiden CPL title
Maaz Sadaqat, the youngest centurion in CPL history, scored yet another ton in the CPL final match on Monday. The 21-year-old Sadaqat played a spirited knock of 114 off 58 balls to guide his side to a respectable total, but it went in vain as Falcons chased down the target with more than three overs to spare.
Apart from Sadaqat, the rest of the Kingsmen batting lineup managed just 56 runs combined, out of which 12 were extras given by the opposition. Notably, nine batters were dismissed for single-digit scores.
The Moeen Ali-led side was brilliant with the ball, particularly Pakistan’s Sufiyan Muqeem, who took four wickets in four overs (4/14). Muqeem was well supported by Shadab (1/28) and Alzarri Joseph (2/27).
At the end of the first innings, Kingsmen managed to post 170/9.
In the chase, Falcons openers got off to a rapid start, with Rakheem Cornwall (20 off six balls) and Evin Lewis (38 off 26 balls) delighting the home crowd with some big hits.
After the openers fell, Amir Jangoo (57* off 34 balls) and Hassan Nawaz (47* off 35 balls) built a steady partnership to keep Kingsmen out of the contest.
Hassan completed the formalities with back-to-back sixes in the 17th over, handing Falcons their first CPL title in their maiden final appearance.
Overall, CPL 2026 delivered thrilling cricket, fiery performances from Caribbean stars, and valuable contributions from overseas players, making it another memorable edition of the West Indies’ marquee T20 league.

Which team has won the most CPL titles?
Trinbago Knight Riders are the most successful CPL team, with five titles to their name. They acquired their maiden title in the 2015 edition and went on to win the 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2020 CPL titles, proving sustained dominance rather than a single golden era.
Moreover, Jamaica Tallawahs hold a 100% conversion rate in the CPL finals. All three appearances ended in victories, a record unmatched in the tournament.
Unfortunately, the Tallawahs franchise was discontinued in December 2023 and was replaced by the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons starting in the 2024 season.
Lastly, Guyana Amazon Warriors are the great CPL contradiction. They have reached the final eight times, more than any other team, yet won only once in 2023.
To put Guyana’s record in perspective, no other T20 franchise team anywhere in the world has lost as many finals. Seven runner-up finishes for a single title is truly astonishing.
