ODI cricket has often witnessed bowlers producing decisive spells that alter the course of matches in an instant.

Bangladesh, too, have enjoyed several such standout performances, especially against one of the format’s most formidable opponents and hitherto world champions, Australia.

Interestingly, four of Bangladesh’s five best bowling figures against Australia in ODIs were recorded during their three-match home series in June 2026 itself.

Following Shoriful Islam’s landmark six-wicket haul in Dhaka, here is a look at five of the best bowling figures recorded by Bangladesh players in ODI matches against Australia.

5. 3/36 – Abdur Razzak, Chattogram, 2006

In the first ODI of the April 2006 series between Australia and hosts Bangladesh, then spinner Abdur Razzak unfurled tight figures of 3-36 in his 10 overs.

The cricketer picked up the important wickets of a rampaging Adam Gilchrist, legendary all-rounder Andrew Symonds and Australian captain Ricky Ponting to reduce the world champions from 96-0 to 133-4.

Unfortunately for Bangladesh, the Australian middle-order safely negotiated the remainder of Razzak’s overs to cruise to a four-wicket win in 44 overs while chasing 196 in Chattogram.

4. 3/33 – Taskin Ahmed, Mirpur, 2026

Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed struck in the first over of the second ODI match of the June 2026 series against Australia in Mirpur.

The speedster knocked over struggling Australian opener Matthew Short for a four-ball duck, before mopping up the Australian tail with the wickets of Xavier Bartlett and Adam Zampa.

Taskin secured sensational figures of 3-33 from his eight overs to restrict the visitors to 187-8 in a 42-overs innings. His spell helped Bangladesh script a historic ODI series win over Australia, their first in history.

3. 3/27 – Mustafizur Rahman, Mirpur, 2026

In the same match, Mustafizur Rahman decimated Australia with figures of 3-27 from his seven overs in Mirpur.

The legendary Bangladesh fast bowler, ably assisting Taskin Ahmed with the new ball, jolted Australia at a record low of 0-3 with the wickets of Cooper Connolly and Matt Renshaw for ducks.

Rahman also got the better of Alex Carey for just 13 as the visitors reached 25-4 in 7.3 overs. The senior cricketer also bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his match-winning spell shortly after Bangladesh claimed the match to win the series with a game to spare.

2. 4/41 – Nahid Rana, Mirpur, 2026

Bangladesh’s tearaway paceman Nahid Rana steamrolled Australia with fiery figures of 4-41 in his 10 overs in Mirpur in June 2026. His match-winning spell also paved way for Bangladesh’s first-ever ODI victory over Australia in more than two decades.

Defending 278, Rana got both of Australia’s well-set batters, captain Josh Inglis and Alex Carey nicking towards the wicketkeeper, before dismissing Liam Scott and Xavier Bartlett.

His spell, coupled with wickets from Mustafizur Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain helped Bangladesh restrict Australia to just 191-9 in 42.2 overs.

1. 6/48 – Shoriful Islam, Mirpur, 2026

Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam bowled his heart out against Australia in the third ODI of their three-match series in June 2026.

Defending 275 to secure a 3-0 sweep in Mirpur, Shoriful trapped Josh Inglis and Matt Renshaw in his opening spell, before getting rid of a well-set Marnus Labuschagne in the middle overs.

The speedster also dismissed Oliver Peake and Xavier Bartlett in successive deliveries, and got Ben Dwarshuis to complete a sensational six-wicket haul, the first-ever by any bowler in an Australia vs Bangladesh ODI game. He secured fighting figures of 6-48 but failed to contain Australia to a thrilling one-wicket win in the final over.
