The third edition of the high-octane Delhi Premier League (DPL) is fast approaching. DPL 2026 is set to get underway with an exciting clash between Central Delhi Kings and Purani Dilli 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday, July 31.
The tournament gives domestic and IPL-experienced players a high-visibility platform to showcase their skills. Once again, all eyes will be on the month-long league, which is set to produce standout players who may go on to play for India’s most premier T20 league, the IPL.
DPL 2026 set to give IPL talents like Digvesh Rathi, Priyansh Arya and Prince Yadav
Delhi Premier League has proved to be an excellent platform for the talented cricketers in the state who are showing off their skills on the field. Since its inception in 2024, the month-long tournament has served as a major talent pool for the Indian Premier League.
Standout emerging names include Tejasvi Dahiya, Priyansh Arya, Digvesh Rathi, Sarthak Ranjan, Mayank Rawat, and so on.
The most notable name who rose through the ranks in recent times has to be Prince Yadav.
Notably, Prince started playing competitive local and tennis-ball matches in Delhi before making his way through the Delhi domestic circuit, which included a turbulent phase marked by a brief two-year ban and personal struggles.
However, he soon impressed selectors and fans with high-velocity, disciplined spells in the DPL, transforming from an unrecognised local player into the Indian setup.
The Delhi pacer capitalised on his DPL success to earn an IPL contract with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He grabbed national headlines during the IPL 2026 season by dismissing star batters like Virat Kohli on a duck, while refining his death-bowling yorkers and powerplay control under elite coaching.
Thanks to a highly successful IPL campaign, Prince received his maiden India ODI call-up in June 2026 during the series against Afghanistan.
That being said, in this article, let's take a look at five players to watch out in DPL 2026.
1) Yash Dhull- Central Delhi Kings
An Under-19 World Cup trophy captain, twin hundreds on Ranji Trophy debut, a century on Duleep Trophy debut. To top it all, he also had an IPL contract of INR 50 lakh with Delhi Capitals in 2022.
However, with all these soaring highs also came some disappointing lows in the form of inconsistent performances, and after the IPL 2025 mega auction, he was without a contract.
Dhull responded to his IPL auction snub with a dominant DPL campaign, followed by heavy domestic run-scoring in the 2025-26 season.
In eight innings in DPL 2025, Dhull has smashed 435 runs at a strike rate of 167.31 and an average of 87.00 with the help of two centuries and three fifties. Moreover, he scored the maiden century of the tournament to firmly anchor his team to the final stages.
For the unversed, during the tournament, Yash Dhull revealed that he had undergone heart surgery in July 2024 to repair a congenital 17mm hole in his heart discovered during a routine National Cricket Academy (NCA) camp.
The recovery required one full month of strict bed rest and heavy medication, causing him to initially step away from competitive play like the Delhi Premier League. Thus, the 2025 DPL campaign marked special importance for the Delhi batter.
And if he manages to continue his onslaught in the 2026 edition, several IPL franchises like DC and Kolkata Knight Riders, who are in search of a solid opener for the upcoming season, may want to target him.
2) Arpit Rana- East Delhi Riders
Rana had a dream run in DPL 2025, scoring 495 runs at a staggering average of 55 and a strike rate of 146.88 while playing for East Delhi Riders.
He hasn't made his debut for Delhi in this format but is part of the Nitish Rana-led side for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Moreover, after DPL, he attended trials at Delhi Capitals, which suggests at least one team sees his improved batting.
Arpit once again came into the limelight when he and Sanat Sangwan partnered in an undefeated opening partnership of 321 runs, which was the silver lining for Delhi as its Elite Group-D Ranji Trophy encounter against Pondicherry ended in a draw.
Thus, if he successfully imitates his DPL 2025 consistency in the upcoming edition, he may soon move up the ladder in the domestic circuit.
3) Manan Bhardwaj- West Delhi Lions
Manan Bhardwaj emerged as one of the most promising spinners in the second edition of the DPL. The underrated spinner was instrumental in the trophy-winning performance of West Delhi Lions.
In one of his team’s toughest fixtures against East Delhi Riders in the Qualifier 2 match of the tournament, Bhardwaj claimed 3 wickets in his 4-over quota, giving only 22 runs. He single-handedly shattered the Riders’ middle order. Thus, for the match-turning spell, the youngster earned the man of the match award.
For the uninitiated, the spinner is an ambidextrous bowler, which means he can bowl with both his hands, giving his captain an undue advantage. He is often compared to Sri Lankan spinner Kamindu Mendis.
Ambidextrous bowlers can switch arms to spin the ball away from both right-handed and left-handed batters. This forces batters to constantly readjust their guard, footwork, and mental approach during an over.
4) Ayush Doseja- West Delhi Lions
Ayush Doseja is only 24 years old but mature well beyond his age. Doseja is a batter with a rare cool temperament in the slam-bang T20 era, and is easily Delhi’s biggest find in the recent few years.
Ayush had caught the eye in the 2024-25 domestic season with his consistent batting. He aggregated 353 runs at 88.25, with one century and four half-centuries, in the 50-over Under-23 State A Trophy. On the basis of this form, he was picked for the Ranji Trophy and was on the verge of making his debut against Saurashtra, but he twisted his ankle and was ruled out.
A fit-again Doseja returned with a bang. In DPL 2025, the youngster amassed 300 runs in 11 innings, highlighted by a ton against Purani Dilli 6. Doseja became an automatic choice for the No. 5 batting position in Delhi’s Ranji Trophy Team for the coming season.
He made his First-class debut, smashing a double century, and eventually became the overall second highest-scorer of the season, with a tally of 949 runs from seven matches. He also hammered 4 centuries and 5 half-centuries.
Thus, the team management and West Delhi Lions captain have once again showcased immense faith in the lefty-batter and not only retained him, but also named him the vice-captain for the 2026 season.
5) Money Grewal- Central Delhi Kings
Money Grewal is a fiery right-arm pacer who plays for Central Delhi Kings in the Delhi Premier League. Grewal came into the limelight for his sensational hat-trick that dismantled East Delhi Riders’ batting unit and lit up the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the 2025 edition.
Chasing a decent target of 156, Riders were jolted early when opener Sujal Singh went back for 1 off 5, caught by Aryavir Sehwag off Arun Pundir. But the real damage came in the third over when Money Grewal turned the game on its head with a blistering hat-trick.
He continued his attack with consistency throughout the tournament, eventually finishing as the highest wicket-taker of the season. Grewal amassed 20 scalps, with an even impressive economy under 8.
Thus, if he successfully emulates his previous year’s performances, Grewal could be the next Prince Yadav, and on target for IPL franchises looking for uncapped Indian pacers ahead of the 2027 auction.
