The Lanka Premier League 2026 has ended with Galle Gallants lifting the trophy. The tournament also produced several outstanding individual performances, but only 11 players are worthy of the Team of the Tournament.

There have been several standout performances from both batters and bowlers and all-rounders as well. As the tournament ended, let’s take a deep look at which are the strongest and most effective players who can make a dream Playing XI regardless of their franchises.

Openers (Sam Harper, Kamil Mishara (wk))

Sam Harper and Kamil Mishara form one of the most dangerous opening combinations of the LPL 2026 season. 

Harper was among the most consistent run-scorers in the tournament, scoring 425 runs in 11 innings at an average of 38.63 and an extraordinary strike-rate of 163.46. The Galle Gallants batter smashed 43 fours and 19 sixes, while also registering three fifties.

What makes Harper's numbers particularly impressive is the volume of his scoring. He faced 260 deliveries throughout the tournament and converted them into 425 runs, making him one of the most aggressive openers in the competition.

On the other hand, Kamil Mishara was even more productive from a run-scoring perspective. The Jaffna Kings opener accumulated 411 runs in nine innings, averaging 51.37.

Mishara also produced one of the most memorable individual performances of LPL 2026, scoring an unbeaten 108. His strike-rate of 165.06 shows that his consistency did not come at the expense of aggression.

Top and Middle Order (Charith Asalanka, Kamindu Mendis and Chamika Karunaratne)

At No. 3, there was little doubt over Charith Asalanka's inclusion. The Galle Gallants batter scored 343 runs in nine innings at an average of 42.87 and a strike-rate of 164.11. He also remained unbeaten once and produced four half-centuries, showing remarkable consistency in the most important batting position after the openers.

At No. 4, Kamindu Mendis gets the nod after another impressive campaign for Colombo Kaps. Mendis accumulated 279 runs in nine innings, averaging 34.87 and striking at 164.11. His unbeaten 88 was his highest score of the tournament, while two fifties further highlight his consistency.

Chamika Karunaratne takes the No. 5 position after an excellent campaign with Galle Gallants. The all-rounder played only six innings with the bat but scored 160 runs at an average of 40, including an unbeaten 72. 

More importantly, he struck at a remarkable 161.61, showing that he was not simply occupying the crease in the middle order.

With Asalanka and Kamindu capable of controlling the middle overs and Harper and Mishara providing explosive starts, Karunaratne can be used as a floating batter depending on the match situation.

All-Rounders (Wanindu Hasaranga, Gulbadin Naib and Dasun Shanaka (c))

Wanindu Hasaranga brings a completely different dimension to the XI at No. 6. The Kandy Royals all-rounder may not have produced eye-catching batting numbers, scoring 119 runs in nine innings, but his value comes from the balance he provides to the side.

Hasaranga's highest score was 29, while he also picked up six wickets, with his best figures of 2/29. More importantly, his leg-spin gives the captain another genuine wicket-taking option through the middle overs.

Gulbadin Naib brings another genuine all-round option into the side. The Dambulla Sixers star collected 116 runs in eight innings, with an unbeaten 33 his highest score, while also taking four wickets, including a best of 2/19.

Naib gives the XI another player capable of changing the game in either discipline. At No. 7, that additional bowling option becomes particularly valuable.

Dasun Shanaka takes the No. 8 spot after another productive campaign for Galle Gallants. He scored 227 runs in 11 innings, averaging 37.83 and striking at a healthy rate, with an unbeaten 57 as his highest score. He also contributed four wickets, including a best bowling effort of 1/16.

Bowlers (James Neesham, Dunith Wellalage and Mujeeb Ur Rahman)

At No. 9, James Neesham provides arguably the most complete all-round package in the lower order. The Colombo Kaps all-rounder scored 173 runs in nine innings, including an unbeaten 48, while taking seven wickets.

His best bowling figures were 2/30, but the bigger picture is his ability to contribute consistently in both departments.

Dunith Wellalage is the specialist bowling weapon of the team, while still possessing enough batting ability to contribute down the order. The Jaffna Kings player scored 162 runs in 10 innings, with a highest score of 56, but his biggest impact came with the ball.

Wellalage claimed 14 wickets, including a remarkable 3/11, making him one of the most effective wicket-takers of the tournament.

The final spot goes to Mujeeb Ur Rahman. The Colombo Kaps spinner claimed 13 wickets in 10 matches, with his best figures being 3/34. More importantly, he maintained an economy rate of 8.37, giving opposition batters very little room to attack him freely.
