India-A will kickstart their campaign in the Tri-Nation Series 2026 with a riveting clash against Sri Lanka-A on Tuesday, June 9. The mega contest will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla, Sri Lanka.

Led by Tilak Varma, India have a formidable squad comprising Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Priyansh Arya and Ayush Badoni. The bowling unit is expected to be led by Yash Thakur, who has been impressive in List-A cricket for quite a while now.

As the Indians gear up for the first match of the tournament, here are three players who might not get a single match in the Tri Nation Series 2026.

(Vaibhav Sooryavanshi vs Priyansh Arya List-A record comparison)

  • Competitor with similar attributes- Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
  • 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stormed into the India-A squad for the Tri-Series amid his batting exploits for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026. The swashbuckling southpaw bagged the Orange Cap, scoring 776 runs at an unbelievable strike rate of 237.31.
  • Sooryavanshi comprehensively outperformed Priyansh Arya, who managed only 364 runs at a modest average of 28. Additionally, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has better numbers than Priyansh Arya in List-A cricket.
  • The wonder kid from Bihar has clobbered 353 runs, averaging 44.12 and striking at 164.95. On the contrary, Priyansh Arya has 522 runs under his belt, recording a significantly lower average of 34.80 and a strike rate of 142.23.
  • These numbers suggest that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is an upgrade over Priyansh Arya and will likely form the core of India-A's batting order alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma.

Kumar Kushagra

Why Kumar Kushagra might not get a single match in Tri Nation Series 2026

  • Competitor with similar attributes- Prabhsimran Singh
  • Punjab opener Prabhsimran Singh enjoyed stellar success in the IPL 2026. Playing for Punjab Kings, Prabhsimran hammered 510 runs at an average of 42.50 and a strike rate of 168.87.
  • On the other hand, his competitor, Kumar Kushagra, struggled to get game time for Gujarat Titans. Kushagra, who plays for Jharkhand in the Indian domestic circuit, managed only 18 runs at an ordinary strike rate of 128.57.
  • Prabhsimran Singh has also been a proven performer in List-A cricket, scoring 2140 runs at an average of 45.53 and a superb strike rate of 105.57 across 55 outings. Given that he is in red-hot form and more experienced, Prabhsimran might get the first preference over Kumar Kushagra, who has played 37 matches in the format.

Nishant Sindhu

Why Nishant Sindhu might not get a single match in Tri Nation Series 2026

  • Competitor with similar attributes- Anukul Roy
  • Nishant Sindhu is a promising cricketer and has proved his worth with bat and ball in List-A cricket. His direct competitor is Anukul Roy, who is significantly more experienced than the young allrounder.
  • Talking about their numbers in List-A cricket, Anukul has 1279 runs and 59 wickets in 61 matches, while Nishant Sindhu has managed 812 runs and 52 scalps in 43 outings.
  • Given that both Anukul and Nishant are left-arm spinners, their experience will be the deciding factor in selecting one of them in the India-A playing XI for the Tri-Nation Series 2026.
  • Additionally, Anukul Roy is a fantastic fielder and considering leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam can be drafted as the bowling allrounder, Nishant Sindhu might warm the bench in the Tri-Nation Series 2026 in Sri Lanka.
