That’s all from this contest, folks! A one-sided contest in the last match of today’s triple header in Abu Dhabi T10, with Quetta Qavalry winning two in two. On the other hand, Ajman Titans start their campaign with a defeat. For now, it’s me, Deepak Prakash, signing off from this space along with co-commentator Saptak Sanyal and scorer Yogesh Kumar. CHEERS!
Liam Livingstone (Quetta Qavalry Captain):"Ya lovely start. Played some good cricket. Always great to start on a high. We have got a lot of powerful players. It is T10 and we got a lot of powerful players. Hope we can push ourselves to do better.
Yes we had the faith in our bowlers and they have delivered. Mo played brilliant. When a player like him gets going, you have to change your plans. Eventually we have chased down the target and happy for it."
Abbas Afridi (POTM): "Thanks to the Almighty. I performed well for the team, and we got the win. It’s been a very good experience for me to play in this tournament, and I’ll aim to carry this form into the upcoming games."
Player of the Match: Abbas Afridi
Time for the post-match presentation......
Moeen Ali (Ajman Titans Captain):"I think the better team won. They bowled well up front. We were five down but got to a good score eventually.
It's been a good experience. We have settled in well. Good manager, good coach. Hopefully we will do better as the tournament progresses. Yes I am happy to get the runs. In Abu Dhabi you will find it difficult to hit in the first 8 or 10 balls.
Not much discussion. Just one off game and we will bounce back in the next game."
11:14 PM IST, 9:44 PM Local Time: Quetta Qavalry cross the line with ease, chasing 108 runs by 7 wickets and 16 balls to spare. Also, this is the first time a team has won chasing in this year's Abu Dhabi T10.
Earlier, after being sent in, Ajman Titans stumbled early, losing wickets in clusters and slipping to 41/5 despite a brisk 11-ball 23 from Will Smeed. However, it was Moeen Ali, who played a gem of a knock for the Titans and rescued the team from a precarious position, as the skipper went honkers and bonkers and hammered an unbeaten 59 runs off just 21 balls, helping his side post 107/7 in 10 overs. Abbas Afridi starred with the ball for Quetta Qavalry, claiming 3 wickets for 15 runs in 2 overs. Khuzaima Tanvir was very economical, claiming one wicket and giving just 7 in his 2. Ali Majid and Jason Holder chipped in with one wicket each.
In reply, Evin Lewis and Andries Gous chipped in with 13 runs each, putting on 26 for the first wicket before both fell off consecutive deliveries. Muhammad Waseem then blasted a 9-ball 26 to pull things back for Quetta. However, the Titans couldn’t sustain the pressure and leaked runs regularly. Liam Livingstone (27*) and Khawaja Nafay (25*) finished the job in style, adding an unbeaten 39 off just 11 balls to seal the win with 16 balls remaining. Jason Behrendorff, Akif Javed, and Wasim Akram claimed one wicket each for the Titans.
