Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first, and thanks to some disciplined bowling, Somerset were able to restrict Hampshire Hawks to a par score of 157/7 from their 20 overs. Tom Prest top scored for Hampshire with 51 runs from 32 balls. While, Pretorius, Ball and Leach picked up 2 wickets each for Somerset.
Come the chase, Somerset were without their star opener in Will Smeed but that did not deter their batters as the top 3 were enough to complete the chase. Tom Banton led the way with an unbeaten 79 runs off 52 balls along with Tom Kohler-Cadmore who scored an unbeaten 43 runs off 28 balls to hand their team the W.
George Thomas proved to be a reliable deputy to Smeed as he supported Banton at the top of the order with 29 runs from 29 balls before Howell got the better of him in what was a 81 run opening partnership for Somerset.
A lot of improvements for Hampshire to focus on as they will look to bounce back from this victory. While, Somerset with a morale boosting win will hope to carry on this form for the rest of the tournament.
