Usman Khan is a right-handed top-order batter who represents Pakistan, Multan Sultans and Karachi Whites. Usman's cricketing journey began in the Sialkot region, but seeking growth, he moved to Karachi in 2012 and joined the Pakistan Cricket Club.
In Karachi, he played under Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy and soon became a local sensation.
Usman Khan’s Domestic Career
One of Usman's notable performances came during the Ramzan cricket tournaments, when he earned the Player of the Tournament award, which paved the way for his selection in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He showcased his talent as an opening batter and wicketkeeper, which led to his selection by Quetta Gladiators in the PSL.
The keeper-batter made his T20 debut in March 2021 in the PSL, and he had one of the most captivating debuts ever. On his debut match with the side, he smashed 81 runs with a strike rate of 162 against Multan Sultans.
Two years later, playing for Multan Sultans, Usman recorded the fastest century in PSL history, reaching the milestone in just 36 balls against Quetta Gladiators. Throughout the PSL 9, he continued his stellar form, scoring two more centuries and accumulating 430 runs in seven matches at an average of 107.5.
In November 2022, Usman signed with the Chattogram Challengers for the 2022–23 Bangladesh Premier League. In January 2023, he scored his maiden T20 century, an impressive 103 runs off 58 balls against the Khulna Tigers, leading his team to a nine-wicket victory.
Usman Khan T20I Career
Usman Khan had everything in his bag now; all he needed was a national cap, which was not far. In April 2024, he received his first T20I cap for Pakistan against New Zealand.
However, the explosive keeper-batter's debut for Pakistan came at a cost. To earn his Pakistan debut, he had to receive a ban from the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).
In 2020, Usman relocated to Ajman, where he worked in the purchasing department of a gas distribution company. Balancing work and cricket, he played domestic cricket in the UAE and expressed intentions to qualify for the UAE national team.
However, after being selected for Pakistan, he abandoned this pursuit. In April 2024, the ECB banned him from domestic cricket for five years, citing misrepresentation regarding his intentions to play for the UAE.
Usman is renowned for his aggressive batting style, particularly in the T20 format. His ability to play explosive innings, as evidenced by his record-breaking PSL century, makes him a valuable asset in limited-overs cricket.
His consistent performances in the PSL and T20Is have solidified his reputation as a dynamic top-order batter. With his current form, he is expected to play a crucial role in Pakistan's future cricketing endeavours, including potential participation in upcoming international tournaments.
After impressing the national selectors with recent performances, Khan is a part of Pakistan’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026.
Usman Khan ODI Career
A year after his T20I debut, Usman Khan made his ODI debut for Pakistan against New Zealand on March 29, 2025, at McLean Park, Napier. Opening the batting, he scored 39 runs off 33 balls in the first match of the series. However, he was later ruled out of the second ODI due to a hamstring injury sustained while fielding.
