So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Akshay Bhide as we wrap up the coverage of this fixture along with our scorer, Sachin Yadav.
Next up will be the 2nd Semi-Final between India and Sri Lanka with the winner going onto face Pakistan in the Gold medal clash. The loser will face Bangladesh in the Bronze medal match.
At the half-way stage of the match and even the early part of the chase, it did look like Bangladesh were ahead but the unbeaten 59-run stand between Abdul Samad and Hasan Nawaz made things look very easy in the end. Pakistan now guarantee themselves a medal by advancing to the Gold medal clash on October 3rd.
8:56 AM IST, 12:26 PM Local Time: That’s it. Pakistan emerge victorious in the first semi-final of the Men’s Cricket Competition in the Asian Games 2026 and secure a medal. They book a place in the Gold Medal match by beating Bangladesh by 6 wickets, who will now compete for a Bronze Medal on Sunday.
Bangladesh were asked to bat first and they got off to a disastrous start. Tanzid Hassan (7), skipper Litton Das (2) and Parvez Hossain Emon (1) fell inside the revised powerplay of 3.5 overs. Saif Hassan got trapped in front of the stumps on 19 as Bangladesh were reduced to 45/4 in the seventh over.
Towhid Hridoy came out all guns blazing at number five and he received good support from Mosaddek Hossain as both resurrected the innings. Both Hridoy (42 off 25) and Mosadeek (11 off 16) added 53 for the fifth wicket before both fell in the 11th over. Mahedi Hasan’s four-ball 8* powered Bangladesh to 111/7 at the end of their innings.
Sufyan Moqim was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan. He picked up three wickets, conceding 26 runs in his three overs. Arafat Minhas (2/23) and Saim Ayub (1/3) grabbed two and a wicket respectively.
Chasing 112, Pakistan lost their skipper Sahibzada Farhan (1) in the very first over. Maaz Sadaqat (15) and Saim Ayub (21) started positively but failed to carry on. Usman Khan (14) got a start before throwing away his wicket in the seventh over. Hasan Nawaz and Abdul Samad started building a partnership for Pakistan.
Both Hasan and Abdul pounced on anything loose and helped their side gain the momentum. The back of the run chase was broken in the 10th over when Mustafizur Rahman was taken for 23 runs. Hasan and Abdul remained unbeaten on 27 (22) and 30 (15) respectively as Pakistan chased down the total in just 11.3 overs with six wickets in hand to secure a medal.
Mahedi Hasan (1/17), Nasum Ahmed (1/33), Mustafizur Rahman (1/41) and Rishad Hossain (1/12) picked up a wicket each for Bangladesh but they failed to contain runs and as a result, failed to defend the total.
