One of the best all-rounders in the current US circuit, Sushant Modani is a former cricketer for Maharashtra who tried hard but failed to get into the senior team and took up a corporate job in Pune.
After getting transferred to New York for business purposes a couple of years later, Modani started playing club cricket in 2017. He was amongst the top-scorers in the 2017 Houston Invitational League and was an outperformer in other domestic leagues in the States.
Modani rose through the ranks after consistent scoring in New York and New Jersey league cricket and earned a maiden call-up to the national side for the six-match ODI series against PNG. Making a debut alongside three other debutants in September 2021, Modani scored 24 runs and his opening partnership with Steven Taylor led the US to a comfortable 7 wickets victory. Riding on constituent performance in the domestic leagues, Modani has definitely laid a foundation for securing a permanent spot in the team.
