Krains Fuletra is a young left-arm wrist spinner from Saurashtra who has rapidly moved from local cricket to national attention. A bowling all-rounder capable of delivering orthodox spin along with wrist-spin variations, he entered the spotlight after Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him for IPL 2026 at the auction.
With left-arm wrist spinners being rare in domestic cricket, franchises view Fuletra as a long-term T20 prospect rather than a finished product.
Krains Fuletra’s Early Life and Background
Krains Bhaveshbhai Fuletra was born on June 19, 2004, in Maadiya village near Rajkot, Gujarat, into a farming family that also ran a small paan shop. Cricket in the household existed long before him — his father Bhaveshbhai was deeply passionate about the sport and even named his son after New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns.
His childhood training was far from structured academies. As a young boy, he practised in open spaces in Maliya before travelling daily by early-morning train to Junagadh for coaching. Later, the family shifted to Rajkot despite financial pressure so he could access better facilities. School fees, travel costs and living expenses stretched the family, but they persisted, believing cricket could become his career.
Interestingly, Fuletra didn’t begin as a spinner. He initially trained as a fast bowler before coaches noticed his height and wrist flexibility suited spin better. He first bowled left-arm orthodox but soon developed a wrist-spin release, turning him into a rare left-arm chinaman bowler. Years of repetition refined his googly and stock ball, making them his defining skills.
His journey was slow. After one early age-group selection, he spent nearly six years playing only district cricket and sometimes even sitting out matches. The long wait tested his confidence, but maintaining the same routine eventually earned him a place in the Saurashtra U-23 side and a place in senior domestic cricket.
Krains Fuletra’s Domestic Career
Krains Fuletra made his List A debut for Saurashtra against Karnataka in January 2025. Although it was just an early appearance and the returns were modest, the match marked his official entry into top-level domestic cricket and provided exposure against established professionals.
The T20 format has been the real launchpad for Fuletra. He represented Saurashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and also featured in the Saurashtra Premier League, where he made a noticeable impact.
Playing for Anmol Kings Halar in the 2025 Saurashtra Premier League, he picked up 10 wickets in nine matches and won the Emerging Player award.
His ability to change pace and bowl wrist-spin variations from a left-arm action made him difficult to line up, especially on slower pitches.
Before becoming an IPL player, he even worked as a net bowler for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2025. During those sessions, his variations impressed the coaching staff and senior players, accelerating his path into franchise cricket.
Krains Fuletra’s IPL Career
Krains Fuletra’s big breakthrough came at the IPL 2026 auction when Sunrisers Hyderabad secured him for INR 30 lakh. The moment carried extra significance for his family — while the auction was underway, his relatives anxiously watched from their home and shop in Gujarat, waiting to hear his name called. After a brief pause with no bids, Hyderabad finally raised the paddle, turning years of persistence into a life-changing opportunity.
The franchise already knew his abilities from his stint as a net bowler during the 2025 season. During that period, he spent over two months bowling to established international batters in practice sessions and training alongside experienced spinners, which helped him understand the demands of high-level T20 cricket.
