Blessed with a great height (6 ft 5 in) and the ability to hit the deck hard, Jamie Overton was once considered the future of England's pace attack, but injuries have so far hampered his career. Overton plays for the Surrey County club, and he has a twin brother, Craig Overton, who plays for Somerset.
Overton was a part of the England squad for the 2012 U-19 World Cup. The young gun was at his menacing best, constantly bowling at over 150 km/h and troubling the opposition with his hostile bowling.
Jamie Overton Test Career
In May 2022, an ECB initiative to monitor bowling speeds across domestic cricket recorded Jamie Overton consistently hitting the 90 mph mark. Shortly after, he was drafted into England’s squad for the third Test against New Zealand. On 23 June 2022, he made his Test debut for England.
Jamie Overton ODI Career
Jamie Overton made his ODI debut for England against the West Indies on October 31, 2024, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.
On November 01, 2025, Overton proved his mettle with the bat and scored his maiden ODI fifty during the third ODI against New Zealand in Wellington, rescuing England with a crucial 68 runs off 62 balls after a top-order collapse.
More than that, he was a standout performer in the series, having also scored 46 and 42 in the previous matches, showcasing his skills as a lower-order batter.
Jamie Overton T20I Career
After impressing England selectors with performances in the Hundred, Jamie Overton made his T20I debut for England against Australia on September 11, 2024, at the Hampshire Bowl, Southampton.
Overton was selected for his maiden T20 World Cup for the 2026 edition. In the crucial match against Italy, Overton claimed a fabulous three-fer, finishing his four overs with 3/18.
Jamie Overton IPL Career
In the IPL 2025 mega auction held in November 2024, Overton was acquired by the Chennai Super Kings for his base price of INR 1.5 crore. Known for his versatility, Overton has remained with the CSK since then.
