Ravindra Jadeja Strengthens His Place In India’s All-Time Test Wicket-Takers List

With 350th Test wicket in his 90th Test match, Ravindra Jadeja has now made his position more clear in the chart of India’s all-time Test wicket-takers. There, Jadeja is fifth, 39 more than Ishant Sharma, who has 311 wickets in 105 matches in the format.

Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam and Sri Lanka legend Rangana Herath are at third and fourth places, with 59.5 and 60 respectively.

Kapil Dev Set The Gold Standard

India’s first ever World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev is the most complete all-rounder India have ever produced. His immaculate numbers still seem like a dream for many, and hence, Ravindra Jadeja, despite doing so much over the years, is still far behind than him in red-ball cricket.

Kapil has 5248 runs in Tests after 131 outings, averaging 31.05. With the ball, he averages 29.64 after 434 wickets, establishing himself as the all-rounder who inspired generations.

Jadeja, on the other hand, averages 38.27 with the bat after 89 Tests and 25.11 with the ball after 89 Tests.

Even though Jadeja’s numbers do look like quite more significant than Kapil in Tests, let’s not forget the fact that how dependable India were back then when Kapil was around.

Besides, India’s spin-friendly conditions helped Jadeja to improve his numbers. Kapil Dev, meanwhile, had to put in the hard yards for his fast bowling prowess, as well as for his natural way of hitting the ball out of the park more often than not.

The Final Chapters Of Jadeja’s Cricketing Journey Has Already Begun

Despite being one of the fittest cricketers around, Jadeja is already 37 years old. Now only time will say how much cricket is still left in him, and whether he has enough time to reach new heights.

Nevertheless, Kapil Dev’s legacy in India’s Test cricket history will remain unscratched irrespective of how Jadeja’s final days in cricket fares.
