At just 15 years of age, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is already one of the biggest names in the world of cricket. In the Eliminator 1 of IPL 2026, the teenage sensation broke multiple records, including Chris Gayle’s record for most sixes in a single IPL season.
His journey to stardom began when, at 12, he made his debut for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy, becoming the second youngest to do so for his state. His fearless strokeplay and elegant batting caught the attention of the IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals.
In the IPL 2025 auction, RR acquired the services of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Entering the bidding war with a base price of INR 30 lakh, Sooryavanshi was sold to the Rajasthan-based franchise for a whopping Rs 1.10 Crore.

The swashbuckling batter has already scored two centuries and several half-centuries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in just two seasons, 2025 and 2026. For the unversed, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi holds the record for the second and third-fastest centuries in IPL history.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi First Century
On April 28, 2025, the then 14-year-old etched his name in the record books with a blistering 101 off just 38 in the 47th game of the IPL 2025.
Notably, the 35-ball century by the Rajasthan Royals opener became the second-fastest in the tournament's history after Chris Gayle's 30-ball blitz for RCB against Pune Warriors India in 2013.

Apart from that, at 14 years & 32 days, Sooryavanshi is the youngest-ever recorded T20 centurion, breaking Vijay Zol's mark (18y 118d) set in 2018. It also happens to be the youngest recorded century in all limited-overs matches in professional cricket.
Zahoor Elahi was 15 years & 209 days when he hit a List A ton in the Pakistan domestic List A tournament in 1986.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Century in IPL 2026 vs SRH
Playing his only second season, Sooryavanshi smashed his second IPL century earlier in the 2026 season. He brought up the milestone off just 36 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur. His sensational innings featured 12 sixes and five boundaries, making it the third-fastest century in IPL history.
On top of that, Sooryavanshi nearly secured a second consecutive century against SRH during the IPL 2026 Eliminator. In that high-pressure match in Mullanpur, he blazed to 97 runs off just 29 balls before holing out agonisingly close to the milestone.
