How Did Tilak Varma Complete The Most Catches As A Fielder In a Calendar Year In T20Is?

Tilak Varma reached the record mark during the second T20I against New Zealand at Hagley Oval. He took a fine catch off Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s bowling to dismiss Daryl Mitchell in the third over of New Zealand’s innings.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled outside the middle stump line, and Mitchell moved forward to play a flick towards mid-wicket. However, he was early into the shot and failed to read the change of pace and movement. The ball took a leading edge and went high towards extra cover.

Tilak Varma moved backwards and completed an excellent catch above his head, giving Bhuvneshwar his first wicket in an Indian jersey in 1,434 days.
