Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan has been remarkably consistent in the IPL. The southpaw bagged the prestigious Orange Cap last season and is currently leading the race among the top run-getters in the IPL 2026.

Sai Sudharsan registered yet another half-century, as his valiant knock set the tone for his side's commanding win over SRH. The opening batter not only helped Gujarat Titans claim their eighth win but also achieved a remarkable feat that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had not.

Sai Sudharsan achieves rare IPL record with fifty vs SRH

After winning the toss, SRH captain Pat Cummins elected to bowl first against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium. The Titans had a shaky start to their innings, with Praful Hinge getting rid of Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler in quick succession.

However, Sai Sudharsan steadied the ship for GT, forming a gritty partnership with Washington Sundar.

The half-centuries from Sundar and Sudharsan powered the Titans to a fighting total of 168 runs, which they eventually defended, courtesy of fiery spells from Kagiso Rabada, Jason Holder, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj.

The half-century marked Sai Sudharsan's first fifty-plus score against SRH. Thus, he became a part of an elite list, not comprising the talismanic duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Sudharsan became the sixth player in IPL history to score a fifty against all opponents, a record that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have failed to achieve in the tournament.

IPL fifties against all teams: Sai Sudharsan achieves what Kohli, Rohit couldn't

Sai Sudharsan has been a part of the Gujarat Titans squad since his maiden IPL stint in 2022. The left-handed batter from Tamil Nadu has faced CSK, Delhi Capitals, KKR, LSG, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, RCB and SRH, scoring at least one fifty against each of them.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, two of the most prolific batters in IPL history, don't have half-centuries against every team they have played against. Both these players failed to register a fifty against Kochi Tuskers Kerala when the franchise was functional in the IPL.

In addition to the Kerala-based franchise, Rohit Sharma doesn't have a fifty-plus score against Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rajat Patidar, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Heinrich Klaasen are the other batters who have fifties against all IPL opponents.

Sai Sudharsan leads Orange Cap race; Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma far behind

As far as the IPL 2026 is concerned, the resurgence of Sai Sudharsan has made him one of the strongest contenders for the Orange Cap.

The southpaw has already breached the 500-run mark, and with Gujarat Titans set to enter the playoffs, chances are high that the young batter might end up clinching the prestigious Orange Cap for the second consecutive time.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been left far behind in the Orange Cap race. Kohli's two successive ducks left him stranded at 379 runs after 11 matches, while Rohit has managed only 243 runs, having missed five matches due to a hamstring injury.
