Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by captain Pat Cummins, suffered a heavy 82-run defeat against Gujarat Titans in Match 56 of IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 12. However, after the GT vs SRH game, Pat Cummins was fined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on May 13.
Gujarat Titans delivered a strong all-round performance and currently sit at the top of the IPL 2026 points table with 16 points, moving closer to the playoffs. On the other hand, SRH is in third place in the IPL 2026 points table with 14 points from 12 matches.
Sai Sudharsan guides GT to massive win
Talking about the match, after losing early wickets of captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, the Gujarat Titans recovered well to post 168/5 in their 20 overs.
Sai Sudharsan played a calm and responsible knock to rebuild the innings and scored 61 runs off 44 balls, while Washington Sundar added valuable runs in the middle overs with an impressive half-century.
In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to build momentum and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The GT bowlers dominated throughout the innings, never allowing SRH batters to settle. As a result, Hyderabad were bowled out cheaply, handing GT a comfortable 82-run victory.
