Rashid Khan spun away Zimbabwe batters to script yet another Afghanistan victory, this time in the second T20I of their three-match series in Sharjah. In a match that had an aggregate of 423 runs, the senior spinner conceded just 29 runs from his four overs with the added wicket of Tadiwanashe Marumani.

Through the course of his match-winning spell, the legendary bowling all-rounder also unlocked a major T20I barrier, completing 200 wickets in T20 Internationals.

Rashid Khan unlocks major T20I landmark

Rashid Khan picked up figures of 1-29 in a high-scoring Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe second T20I match in Sharjah on October 29. His impressive spell also helped him complete 200 wickets in the format, thus becoming the first cricketer in T20I history to reach the landmark figure.

Moreover, Rashid breached the milestone in just 120 T20I innings for the Afghanistan team, i.e., in far fewer innings than some of the other leading wicket-takers in the world who are still ranging between the 150-170 mark. Here is a look at five of the most successful bowlers in T20I history following Rashid’s milestone moment.

Most Wickets in Men's T20Is

  • 200 – Rashid Khan (AFG), 120 innings

Rashid Khan: The undisputed king of T20 cricket

Before completing 200 wickets in T20Is, Rashid Khan was already the leading wicket-taker in the history of the format by a landslide. Moreover, the legendary leg-spinner is also the world’s leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket overall.

Having made his T20 debut back in 2015 when he was a teenager, Khan has so far scalped 742 wickets in 546 innings spanning 551 matches at an extraordinary bowling average of 18.75 and with a strike rate of 16.80.

Leading second-placed Sunil Narine by 84 wickets, Rashid is well on his way in becoming the first cricketer in history to complete 750 T20 wickets.

Of his 742 T20 wickets, he has collected 200 at an international level for Afghanistan, and another 179 for two different franchises in the IPL. Khan’s illustrious collection is also spread across several other elite T20 leagues like the Hundred, BBL, SA20, ILT20, PSL, CPL, Vitality T20 Blast, BPL and APL.
