On Saturday, May 30, Pakistan locked horns against Australia for the 1st ODI at the Rawalpindi Stadium. Even before the start of the white-ball series, Shaheen Afridi and his men scripted history and joined an elite list featuring Team India.
For the unversed, Pakistan are featuring in their 1000 ODI match, a feat scripted faster by two more teams than the Men in Green. It is a special ODI for Pakistan, and celebrations were held during toss.
Pakistan Features In 1000 ODI Matches
As mentioned above, Pakistan have become the 3rd team after Australia and India to have played 1000 ODIs. Notably, India have the record for most ODI appearances in history. (1040). Here is the list of the most ODIs played by teams.

Shaheen Afridi presented a special memento ahead of the 1st ODI
During the toss, Australia’s stand-in captain Josh Inglis presented a special memento to Shaheen Afridi, celebrating Pakistan’s massive moment in their cricketing history. It was a cricket bat with a few balls glued on the edges. It also had a sticker which read 1000 ODIs.
Shedding light on the toss, Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first. In the special 1000 ODI, Pakistan have handed a debut to Arafat Minhas.

How Have Pakistan Fared In 1000 ODIs Compared To Other Teams?
Among the three teams, Pakistan have the worst win percentage. On contrast, Australia have the best win percentage. Shedding light on the Men in Green, they have 527 wins in 1000 matches, which is a 52.75 %.

Among 12 World Cup appearances, Pakistan have won the prestigious World Cup title just once in 1992 where Imran Khan was the captain, and also touted as the golden period of the Men in Green.
They had an opportunity to win their 2nd ODI World Cup in 1999 but lost to Australia. Nonetheless, talking about Pakistan vs Australia rivalry, the hosts are off to a great start in the ongoing match.
