England's star wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler achieved another remarkable milestone in his T20 career during The Hundred 2026. The explosive batter climbed to second place on the all-time T20 run-scoring list after overtaking West Indies legend Chris Gayle.
Buttler reached the milestone while playing for Manchester Super Giants against Trent Rockets at Old Trafford on Friday (July 31).
The England's star batter has been in exceptional form throughout this season of The Hundred. After scoring just 16 in the opening match, Buttler has accumulated 224 runs in four innings, at an average of 112 and a strike rate of 170.99.
Jos Buttler Anchors Manchester Super Giants With Another Remarkable Fifty
Manchester Super Giants were put into bat and managed to post 137/3. Openers Aiden Markram and Tim Seifert gave the side a decent start by adding 39 runs off 30 balls, but the innings lost momentum, and the team was reduced to 56/3.
Coming in at no. 3, Jos Buttler held the innings together with another composed performance and made 55 runs off 37 balls at a strike rate of 148.65. He found excellent support from Leus du Plooy, who remained unbeaten on 40 from 28 balls at a strike rate of 142.85.
Despite his efforts, the total did not prove enough as Finn Allen smashed an unbeaten 72 off just 35 balls, guiding Trent Rockets to a comfortable six-wicket victory.

Jos Buttler Moves Ahead Of Chris Gayle On All-Time T20 Run-Scorers' list
It is important to mention that with this knock, Jos Buttler moved past Chris Gayle in the all-time T20 run-getters' list. He has become the second-highest run-scorer in T20 cricket history.
The updated all-time list now sees Kieron Pollard leading the charts with 14,803 runs from 746 matches. Buttler has climbed to second place with 14,780 runs in 520 matches, while Gayle has slipped to third with 14,562 runs from 463 games.

It is worth noting that Buttler has also achieved another landmark by registering his 114th fifty-plus score in T20 cricket. He has equalled Pakistan star Babar Azam, moving into joint third on the all-time list for the most scores of fifty or more in the format.
