In the ongoing IPL 2026 match between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders, the Shubman Gill-led side have got off to a dream star. The one-time winners, who were asked to field first, took three wickets in the powerplay.

Despite the positive start, the Titans have dealt a blow as their star batter returned to the pavillion after a blow to his hand. The incident occured early on in the innings and now the management is sweating hard as Gujarat Titans have to bat next.

Rahul Tewatia Walks Off The Field In Pain

For those wondering about the GT star, it was Rahul Tewatia. The southpaw took a blow on his left hand which potentially resulted in a split webbing. The incident occured on the last ball of the 1st over, when Tewatia put his hand to a bullet shot and suffered an injury.

Eventually, the 32-year-old was taken off the field by the physios and it seemed that he also had a hand covered by blood due to the impact of the blow. At present, there is no update on Rahul Tewatia and whether he will return to bat in the second innings or not.

Will Gujarat Titans Miss Rahul Tewatia?

At present, it is unknown whether Rahul Tewatia is fit to continue in this match or not. However, the Titans won't miss the southpaw much, because he has had a terrible season so far. Shedding light on the numbers for this season, then he has scored just 34 runs in four innings.

Not just this season, but Tewatia hasn't contributed much to Gujarat Titans' success in the past few seasons. If we look at his record, then Rahul Tewatia scored just 99 runs in 12 innings, which also prompted the fans to question his place in the team.
