No exception was made when Bangladesh and Afghanistan met at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, for the one-off Test.Afghanistan’s Ismat Alam, Qais Ahmad, and Zia-ur-Rehman Akbar fell to Mahmud in consecutive deliveries when he bowled the 83rd over of the innings. In the process, he became the third bowler in the history of Bangladesh cricket to claim a hat-trick in Tests.Only Sohag Gazi and Alok Kapali had hat-tricks in red-ball cricket for Bangladesh before Hasan Mahmud. Notably, Mahmud's hat-trick was 50th in Test cricket.Hasan Mahmud Becomes First Bangladesh Pacer To Claim Test Hat-TrickAs Kapali and Gazi both used to bowl spin during their playing days, Hasan Mahmud emerged as the first-ever Bangladeshi fast bowler to take a Test hat-trick. Afghanistan, in reply, were in a good position at one point when the scoreboard read 134/2.Then they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals, with Mahmud becoming the architect of it.Ebadot Hossain, just like what he did in Bangladesh’s historic Darwin Test triumph against Australia, gave the support Mahmud required. He picked up three wickets, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz had one to his name.
