Razaullah produced one of the most remarkable lower-order batting performances on Test debut as Pakistan stunned England with a late fightback on Day 3 of the ongoing third Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Friday (September 11).
The 21-year-old came to bat at no. 9 with Pakistan in deep trouble at 318/8. England’s pace attack was expected to finish the innings quickly, but Razaullah launched a stunning counterattack and made 81 off just 63 balls, with four 4s and nine sixes.
His aggressive batting helped Pakistan reach 449 in their second innings, giving them a valuable 129-run lead. Razaullah was eventually dismissed in the final over of the day, but by then he had already changed the match and created several records.

Razaullah's 81 runs placed him among the players to score the highest individual score at No. 9 or lower on Test debut. While his score did not break the overall record, it matched the best scores in recent years and added his name to an impressive list.

Razaullah smashed nine sixes in his 63-ball innings in PAK vs ENG 3rd Test. He levelled with New Zealand’s Tim Southee for the most sixes by a batter in a Test debut innings.
Southee had also hit nine sixes against England in Napier in 2008. Razaullah matched that mark more than 18 years later.

Razaullah also played a major role in a record partnership with Mohammad Abbas on Day 3 of PAK vs ENG 3rd Test. The pair added 121 runs for the ninth wicket, helping Pakistan move from a difficult position to a commanding one.

Fastest Fifty By A Pakistan Batter On Test Debut
- Razaullah also reached his half-century in just 43 balls, setting a new record for the fastest fifty by a Pakistani batter on Test debut. He broke the previous record of 52 balls, which was held by Faheem Ashraf for his performance against Ireland in 2018.
Razaullah and Mohammad Abbas’s Historic Partnership
The 121-run stand between Mohammad Abbas and Razaullah was also significant because it was the first 100-plus partnership for the ninth or lower wicket in England since Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami added 111 runs for the 10th wicket at Nottingham in 2014.
Stat: Razaullah is only the second Pakistan player to score 50+ runs at No. 9 or lower on Test debut against England in Birmingham today, after Rashid Khan scored 59 against Sri Lanka in Karachi in 1982.
