Abhishek Sharma had a poor T20 World Cup for India, as the batter crumbled under pressure and registered three back-to-back ducks. Before the tournament, he was at the peak of his powers, but the World Cup gave him a reality check. However, come the IPL, and the SRH batter was back at his best.
There have been a couple of failures on his part in the ongoing tournament, but on most occasions, he has delivered the goods, including the IPL clash against the Delhi Capitals.
Against a strong Delhi Capitals bowling attack at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Abhishek was at his imperial best as the southpaw smacked yet another century, but this time, slower than his normal standards (25 balls).
However, once he reached the fifty-run mark, there was no looking back as the SRH opener smashed a 47-ball century to torment the DC bowlers. This was his second IPL century, and in the process, he broke multiple records.

Abhishek Sharma becomes 4th SRH batter to 2000 IPL runs
The left-handed batter took down the DC attack with utmost ease after a sedate start, and when the batter reached 59 runs, he unlocked a new milestone in his illustrious IPL journey.
He became just the fourth SRH batter to accomplish the milestone of scoring 2000 IPL runs for the franchise. The other three were David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, and Kane Williamson.
Interestingly, he is just the second Indian after Shikhar Dhawan to attain the feat, which showcases his extraordinary talent in the league.

Abhishek Sharma becomes new Orange Cap holder
With that scintillating hundred, Abhishek Sharma has achieved yet another huge IPL 2026 feat as he becomes the new holder of the Orange Cap. He becomes the first player in the ongoing season to cross the 300-run mark.
Currently, Abhishek has scored 305 runs in seven matches, with a strike rate of 227, and it also includes a stunning century.
