Shubman Gill and his online trolling of IPL franchises have been a customary thing now, especially after the Gujarat Titans skipper stormed his way to a top 2 spot with 6 wins out of the last 7 matches.

On his social media handle, Shubman Gill has been posting pictures of GT’s victorious moments while sharing witty, teasing captions aimed at fans of RCB, MI, SRH, and CSK.

However, every action has an equal and opposite reaction, and Gill’s action was no exception. After the May 21 win against Chennai, Gill posted his customary celebratory post, but all hell broke loose as CSK fans thrashed him online.

Shubman Gill And The Teaseful Celebrations

The IPL, especially in its 2026 edition, has been more of a spectacle of showmanship than just cricket itself. The showbiz already attracts huge viewership, and the off-field drama has now reached another level because of players' involvement on social media.

It all started with a CSK win three weeks ago when Gill posted a yellow whistle in his hand after defeating Chennai Super Kings and captioned it, “Nandri Chennai.” That already triggered the Yellow Army, but Gill’s trolling did not stop there.

After defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Shubman Gill shared a series of photos with the caption, “Play hold, bold performance by the team tonight,” subtly teasing RCB’s tagline.

The dominance over the Punjab Kings, too, came with the post, “Bas jeetna hai aava de.” As Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar, and Gill posed in the famous bhangra pose, they teased Punjab Kings fans.

Rajasthan Royals too suffered the same fate, with Gill posting, “Pink city, blue result. Khamma Ghani.” Against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gill posted with Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, writing, “Dil abhi bhi sacche aur ghar bhi kacche.” However, the latest post had the internet buzzing.

Shubman Gill Receives Massive Backlash After Trolling CSK

Gill’s latest post teasing CSK fans saw 949K likes within eight hours as he captioned the post, “Nandri 2. Yellow lights, blue ending.” This meant that Gujarat Titans had defeated CSK for the second time in IPL 2026, and although there was yellow fever in the ground, the result ended in blue.

The photo featured Gill, Jos Buttler, and Mohammed Siraj doing a shushing gesture with fingers on their lips, hinting at CSK fans to stay quiet. However, this triggered the CSK army online, as Gill faced heavy backlash on his social media handles.

Let’s take a look at how the CSK fans reacted to Gill’s post:

Gujarat Titans Dominate Chennai At Home

At home in Ahmedabad, the Gujarat Titans came out to bat first after losing the toss, with Sai Sudharsan scoring a brilliant 53-ball 84, followed by Shubman Gill’s 37-ball 64. Jos Buttler too played a quickfire knock of 57 runs, helping the team post a mammoth total of 229.

Coming into the chase, Chennai faltered right from the start, with Sanju Samson dismissed for a golden duck, as CSK lost four wickets inside the powerplay and were left struggling at 51/4 after 5.1 overs.

The collapse, triggered from the very first ball, continued throughout the innings as the team was bowled out within 13.4 overs.

Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Rashid Khan picked up three wickets each to script CSK’s downfall, as GT ended their campaign on 18 points after 14 games, and CSK were eliminated from IPL 2026.
