Match 12 of the IPL 2026 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) saw an unfortunate end, after the rain gods had the final say at Kolkata's Eden Gardens on Monday night.

As the match was washed out, both teams shared a point each. In the aftermath of the game, Punjab decided to troll the home team.

In a video shared by them, featuring Captain Shreyas Iyer's sister, Shresta Iyer, the Kings mocked the opposition, saying, "They have donated a point to them". After a sorrowful end to the IPL 2026 game, Punjab fans got a juicy piece of content to laugh at, but the KKR supporters have found the video distasteful.

The Punjab Kings franchise posted the video on its social media handle post the game, where Shresta mocked KKR, who had no points before the Punjab fixture, saying "We Punjabis have a big heart, go take one point and enjoy"

The internet has been divided after this video featuring Shreyas Iyer's sister. Some of the KKR fans have taken the humorous video in good taste, while the rest have started to call it 'cringe', 'pathetic' and 'trophy less behaviour'.

Here are some of the reactions after Shresta Iyer's video:

KKR vs PBKS rivalry in recent times

In the recent times, KKR vs PBKS has become a rivalry to watch out for. Before Monday's fixture, the two teams had a head-to-head record of 5-5 over the last 10 games. Meanwhile, the last two completed fixtures between them have been historic.

Last year, the Shreyas Iyer-led side defended 111 runs against KKR in Mullanpur, when Yuzvendra Chahal and Marco Jansen shared seven wickets between them to bundle the three-time champions for 95 runs. As a result, they defended the lowest total in IPL history.

Meanwhile, in IPL 2024, Punjab achieved the highest successful chase in IPL, when Jonny Bairstow (108*), Shashank Singh (68*) and Prabhsimran Singh (54) helped PBKS chase down 262/2 in just 18.4 overs.

However, KKR gave Punjab a scare for the ages when they ruined the near-perfect season for the Kings back in the IPL 2014 finals, winning their second of three trophies. After that, it took PBKS 11 long years to reach another IPL final.

The Shreyas Iyer move from Kolkata to Punjab

Another key moment in the KKR vs PBKS rivalry has to be when the then-reigning champions Kolkata let go of their captain, Shreyas Iyer. After winning his maiden IPL trophy as captain, the Mumbaikar batter entered the mega-auction before IPL 2025, where the Punjab Kings bagged him for a whopping INR 26.75 crore, making him the second most expensive Indian player in IPL auction history.

Acquiring Iyer would have been the best thing to happen to PBKS, as they reached the second-ever finals under his captaincy. They have opened their IPL 2026 campaign as well, bagging five points after three games.

PBKS will next face the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday afternoon, while Kolkata’s next fixture is against Lucknow Super Giants this Thursday.
