The KKR have officially launched their much-anticipated IPL 2026 jersey, with a design steeped in history and rivalry. The purple and gold kit pays tribute to the team's legacy while taking a subtle dig at their biggest rivals, the RCB.
The purple and gold kit features bold stripe panels and a light purple stripe texture, symbolising the 'Lines of Legacy,' a theme that captures the essence of KKR's journey over the years.
KKR reveals 'New Jersey' for IPL 2026
Kolkata's new IPL 2026 jersey design incorporates key milestones from the team's history, such as Brendon McCullum’s explosive 158* in the inaugural match in 2008 and Rinku Singh's unforgettable five sixes in the final over against Gujarat Titans.
These historic moments are represented as abstract lines on the jersey, weaving together to form the team's initials: KKR.
Venky Mysore, CEO of Knight Riders Sports, expressed his excitement about the new design, emphasising that the jersey not only honours the franchise's achievements but also celebrates the energy and spirit that bind the team and its supporters.
"The Lines of Legacy captures the essence of KKR’s storied history and celebrates the journey of the team over the years. Each line represents a pivotal moment of brilliance, reflecting the energy and spirit that weaves together to form our identity. We are proud of this legacy that we have built and want to carry it into the upcoming season while creating more memories for our fans to cherish."
Subtle dig at RCB in KKR's latest video
It is important to note that the unveiling of KKR's new jersey came with a twist. A promotional video that took direct and indirect shots at their biggest rivals, RCB.
The rivalry between Kolkata and RCB has been one of the most intense and high-profile in IPL history, marked by explosive matches and iconic individual performances.
In the video, the team referenced several memorable moments from their encounters with RCB. One of the most notable jabs was the depiction of three stars behind a person, symbolising KKR's three IPL championships in 2012, 2014, and 2024.
In contrast, the video showed a red traffic signal with the number 49, which refers to RCB’s infamous lowest score of 49 against KKR at Eden Gardens on April 23, 2017.

However, this move by the Kolkata Knight Riders did not sit well with RCB fans. In this article, let's take a look at the Twitter reactions from RCB's fans.

KKR's IPL 2026 already full of challenges
The Kolkata-based franchise will want to bounce back from a disappointing 2025 campaign, where they finished 8th on the points table. The team's first match of the season will be against the Mumbai Indians on March 29, 2026, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Kolkata Knight Riders' first home match is scheduled for April 2, 2026, when they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens.
However, the team's road to IPL 2026 has not been without its challenges. The team is facing some key injury concerns. Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the 2026 season due to an injury he sustained during the T20 World Cup warm-up game (as per TOI).
While they have not named a replacement for Harshit Rana, they have made some key foreign signings, including Cameron Green and Matheesha Pathirana. Recently, KKR named Mustafizur Rahman's replacement as Blessing Muzarabani after political issues prevented him from joining the squad.
The team is also facing uncertainty over the fitness of Matheesha Pathirana, whose injury status is still unclear. With Harshit Rana and Pathirana both uncertain, Kolkata is left scrambling to find fit seamers for IPL 2026.
